Is anyone into faux bronze?

I was looking around at some sculptures online and I saw some very nice bronze and faux bronze models. The finish really seems to bring out the surface texture. I'm interested in trying it out it if it looks realistic, and not to forced or tacky. Has anyone here used or experimented with faux bronze before?

Blade-of-the-Moon

i painted my McVey Carnotaurus in different shades of bronze.

Silvanusaurus

I've painted a lot of sculptural pieces to look like metal, if that's what you mean. I generally like to add faux rust aswell, to make them look really old. It's a lot easier than painting something to look like a naturalistic animal. I may try it with a 'crystal palace' style dinosaur I'm planning to make.

Are you talking about a paint job, or cold-casting with bronze powder in the resin? I've got some bronze powder but haven't put it to use yet. I've seen a lot of nice cold-cast bronzes. In my opinion, bronze looks better at larger sizes, but that's just me.

I'm more interested in paintjobs, as I'm considering painting up something to look like bronze sometime in the future.

Faux bronze can look pretty great if executed well. I don't think size matters, my wife has a small bronze sculpture she made in college on our mantle and it looks great. Of course it is real bronze but if you painted your model well, I don't think you would be able to tell the difference at first glance. There is a nice reclining Allosaurus in bronze in the Lanzendorf "Dinosaur Imagery" book and it looks really nice. Besides, it could be a nice departure for you if you have been doing the typical natural paint style on your models. I once found bronze paint and patina paint at Dick Blick. The paint has bronze powder in it and you can get a patina solution that works similar to real patina sans fire. It worked well for what I was doing.  I say go for it and have some fun!

Here is a link to the metal paint if you are interested: http://www.dickblick.com/products/metallic-surfacer-solutions/ and here is the patina solution: http://www.dickblick.com/products/patina-finishes/

Naturecraft brought out a series of bronze-looking dinosaurs. I did a review of their Iguanodon:

You´ve already read it, maybe you got some proposal.

The naturecraft are similar to a set I've seen in the past, might buy one sometime.

Thanks for the paint suggestions! I'll look into them if I ever find anything to experiment on.

Bigger than a camarasaurus,
and with a bite more stronger that the T-Rex bite,
Ticamasaurus is certainly the king of the Jurassic period.

With Balaur feet, dromaeosaurus bite, microraptor wings, and a terrible poison, the Deinoraptor Dromaeonychus is a lethal enemy for the most ferocious hybrid too.
