Yes, I overlooked those various valid reasons for making posts editable. I think, on balance, the best thing to do is leave the settings as they are for now.

 Due to the Photobucket incidence my whole collection thread would have been destroyed, hadn't I been able to edit the posts.
And sometimes I realize grammar typos (which I hate and which happen to me a lot because I'm not English) many days after I posted them.
Wrong information should also be edited no matter when realized. So I'm glad we keep on being able to edit our own posts.

The main problem (as for the whole society) is some people's behavior which obviously can't be changed by rules or laws.
I think our moderators are doing a great job and banning afterwards seems to be the only solution.
It's the job of us other members to report anything that we do not feel comfortable with and that we think is breaking the rules.

I think the site has done a good job with etiquette. The site is a better place due to the work. There will always be a few people who try to game the system. That means changing the process back and forth to make it harder to manipulate. SO try some changes see how they work.
