Quote from: Gwangi on November 22, 2023, 05:09:17 PMIf the franchise must continue then I would like to see a series that follows a couple of Fish and Wildlife officers as they respond to various dinosaur-related incidents. Could be compies raiding trash cans one week, or an Allosaurus killing campers the next.

I'd watch that. On a related note, this seems like a good time to re-post this quote from my wishlist ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=9979.0 ):
QuoteMore faithful adaptations of Crichton's "Jurassic Park" & "Lost World" novels. More specifically: 1) They'd be better as a series like "Westworld" on HBO; 2) They'd be better if the dinos were mostly accurate for today's time ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj1pOgaXTf4&t=246s ), similar to how the novels' dinos were mostly accurate for their time ( https://jurassicpark.fandom.com/wiki/Isla_Sorna_(novel_canon) ); 3) They'd be better if the original Lex character was cut altogether; At best, she adds nothing; At worst, she ruins the experience ( https://babbletrish.blogspot.com/2013/08/so-reading-jurassic-park-in-2013-is.html ); In other words, cutting her would greatly improve the experience without changing anything important (I.e. Major plot points or dino/character interactions).

Quote from: Faelrin on November 22, 2023, 05:50:12 PMEw screen rant.  Not worth reading them.

That's a bit of an overgeneralization :-\ At least some of their articles are decent (E.g. This 1 summing up "What Went Wrong" w/JP2: https://screenrant.com/jurassic-park-lost-world-bad-problems-reason-explained/ ).

Quote from: Faelrin on November 22, 2023, 05:50:12 PMWe also have that Camp Cretaceous sequel series coming out next year, and who knows how that will turn out after the last two seasons of the previous series.

Given that s5 is 1 of CC's best seasons, I'm not too worried. I get not liking s4 as much. To quote myself ( https://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=7736.msg306225#msg306225 ), it "reminds me of She-ra's S2 finale: It doesn't feel like a finale for most of the episode, & then it ends on a big-@ss cliff hanger! Not saying that's a bad thing, just that I wish there was more. Now we have to wait ~5 months to see how they unravel this mess. Ooh wee."

Quote from: suspsy on November 22, 2023, 06:59:34 PMGodzilla and King Kong are 100% CGI in this scene, and in all other scenes in the Legendary movie series. They easily beat out anything in JW, whether it's CGI or animatronic. This is what needs to be fully embraced for the future.

Quote from: Faelrin on November 22, 2023, 08:54:00 PMYeah I definitely can't agree with that. Even if CGI modeling, lighting, etc has improved substantially, animation is also critical. The recent JW movies have poorly animated animals, like the largest herbivores galloping with no real sense of weight or understanding how their anatomy functions (extant mammals, that they claimed to have referenced from, are not good analogues for ornithischian and sauropod dinosaurs).

I'm glad you mentioned that. The galloping ankylosaurs & stegosaurs look especially ridiculous.

I don't think the Barbasol can was ever actually intended to be a cliffhanger
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

I wish they would let it die. The last good Jurassic movie was in 1993. The last entertaining one was in 1997. So it's up to us as members of the public to ensure the last profitable one is also in the past.
In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.
