Hi! I have repaired the damaged Spino from Hobby Lobby. Craft stores are the only place to get dinosaur figures where I live . Ever since change in management all our downtown toy store has are overpriced chinasaurs  I understand small toy stores are overpriced because they have to pay rent and all but at least offer something unique! How about something wallmart doesn't carry!

Anyway here is the Pic. I drilled a tiny hole in each toe and then glued a wire into the hole. Next I covered the wire with magic sculpt and sculpted away! Now it's time for paint!

Ok I just finished painting!    This is my first custom/repair and it feels addicting  It's not as good as a brand new one but totally worth the $9

Yes. But it's not actually drying up it's curing from a chemical reaction. It comes in two containers and you mix the amount you want to use. Over time it slowly becomes firmer and then completely hardens overnight. Their is plenty of time to work with it and when it's done it is a hard lightweight plastic that can be drilled sanded etc. When it's cured it isn't fragile like Sculpey and it has no shrinking. Another advantage is that since you don't have to bake it you don't need an oven plus you can use foam for an armature and it won't melt. I think my favorite part of working with it is it's compatibility with water, it really helps sculpting and smoothing. The one thing to be aware of is that you have to keep your tools slightly wet so they don't stick, but that is easy.
Plus it sticks to anything so it's great for repairs like this, you can always go back and add more with never having to bake it...

Great work here - you've blended in the colours very well. I can still see where they are, but I don't know if that's just the light in the photos. But on thw whole really nice sculpt and paint app!

Thank you everyone! I have repainted a couple chinasaurs I had in my cabinet. One is the Greenbriar International Apatosaurus, and the other is a K&M Triceratops. Both are very inaccurate and poor quality. Besides my Papo Parasaurolophus this is pretty much my "collection"  you can't tell from these photos but there are a few shades of dry brushed green.

That is amazing! I don't think I could remake the sculpt anywhere close to that. I'm very interested in what all you might sculpt or modify in the future!

I've bought a small amount of clay to give it a shot. It's not the fast-drying kind, mainly because I'm not sure if I have the talent for it. I have sculpted Styrofoam into mountains and islands, but that's about it.

Impressive. They no longer have any semblance to chinasaurs

Here are some cheap Dinos I found at Fred Meyer. I decided to get them so I could practice my painting. The ankylosaur was green, the camarasaurus looking one was orange/green, and the last sauropod was grey/white. The high contrast blue/orange/yellow/white doesn't capture very well on camera.

Nice work! The light stripes/dark background of the sauropod makes it looks a bit like a photo negative.

My favourite of this lot is definitely the Ankylosaur. Your paint job has really brought it to life and made it into art.
