Here's a weird one: an insect (I can't tell what kind and the article doesn't specify) trapped in amber that then went on to be opalized. Compounding improbability!

I've heard (and seen) of ammonites ending up like that, but never amber. Wow, it's so fascinating and colorful.

I decided to read the comments to answer this exact question, and while most of them are discussions about whether this is opal or opalized amber, I did manage to find someone suggesting that this insect is some sort of hymenopteran (they more specifically said it's an ant).
