kingdomofspiders

greetings, my old art thread is somewhere in the archived board, under i forget what username (mitchrobot4?)...ill add in all the old pics into this a little later

anyways, here's some new/ish stuff, a couple drawings people ordered and a new fetus sculpture of a spinosaurus. i've done many dino feti(sp?) but this one so far is my favorite, fallowed by the tric fetus i did a while back

ill update with any new work as i make it  ^-^

i do have the inked version of this, but honestly the sketch is better, im not sure why, but my sketches always seem to be! the inking of it ends up making everything look flat and lose some...mass

another custom order

and another! i pushes hard for feathers, but twas shot down!

fetal spino!

thanks
~M!

Aw man I remember this art!  Good to see you back!  The spino fetus came out really nice.  I love the colors and light scale textures on it.  How did you get the eye to look like that?

Can't wait to see more work from you.

DinoToyForum

Welcome to Forum V2 :) That Spinosaurus model is great!  8)

Jetoar

Cool draws ! The spino is amazing. I like all  ^-^!
[Off Nick and Eddie's reactions to the dinosaurs] Oh yeah "Ooh, aah", that's how it always starts. But then there's running and screaming.

{about the T-Rex) When he sees us with his kid isn't he gonna be like "you"!?

thanks everyone!

BladeoftheMoon, i have the clown fetus sketched out in one of my boxes, i guess i just got busy for a time and shelved the sketch and forgot  :-[. ill PM you, i can get started on the sculpt as soon as i get more sculpey, i think with this one i can add some clown hair on to for affect (i actually did plan it out pretty far haha)

i dont have a DA account, but here's some of the other feti (fetuses?) that i've made in the past

these are from oldest to most recent, at least as far as i recall...

Tyrannosaurus
pre-clear coat (IMO should have left it like this, but hadnt tested to see how it would hold up to water)

after

Velociraptor (with feather pins!)

not...a dinosaur fetus

still not dinosaur...(though i think i was working on a tric at the time, i was just lazing off about it)

another tyrannosaurus! still hadnt quite figured out how to get the eyes to look how i wanted them...this one suffered greatly of crappy eyes. the fetus above though, i managed to get those to look right, but felt they were too live looking and not quite 'dead-in-a-jar' looking

ah there it is....this one so far has been the biggest, about the size of a guinea pig.
Triceratops (my 2nd favorite dino  ;D)

i did'nt build/paint much of anything between that last one and these next few, i was working a lot and it was the middle of the breeding season for all the critters over here and i was feeding/cleaning/watering somewhere in the ball park of two thousand tarantulas and a bunch of reptiles and that pretty much took up all of my free time :P. so no at work got done for several months!

these were both custom orders (well, most of them were), but i wasnt given much direction as far as the dinosaur goes, and ended up making a very generic looking therapod   :P

also, i found what i was looking for in regards to the eyes!

not a dinosaur

not a dinosaur

and the most recent was that spinosaur, who, after much referencing of bird embryos and other...feti...i think i have dialed in on how i want them to look. looking back on past ones i realize that some aspects were kind of over done, and others not developed enough, although there isnt much evidence to compare haha. ive also since figured out a little more on how to make acrylic paint do what i want it to, so i can get the paint job a little closer to what i had in mind

just throwing this in...
Turian infant (from Mass Effect). was a custom order that never went through as it ended up being a lot bigger and more expensive than originally planned and couldn't agree on a price

i dont recall what spinosaur this was going to be...baryonyx? but was planned to be sitting down and hatchling-esque rather then an embryo. i still have it but i guess lost my direction on it

ill post some of the older pictures (and try to keeping dinosaur, or at least animal related!)

drawings varying in style from a few years ago to present

this one must be 10 years old, not a dinosaur, but it has a shark and a zombie

also from 10 years ago, and also zombies. both of these were never finished. i lost them for a few years, when i found them the paper had aged and well, as with all my drawings, i felt the sketch looked nice as is and didnt want to muck it up with ink   :)

dry-erase self portrait

the first of the high contrast dino works ive done. this was done by brush with india ink and acrylic

also brush work

oil. monster.

oil. i ended up spilling a jar of solvent on this by accident and it was lost

tyrannosaurus! pen work

high contrasty work. most of these were custom orders.

suchomimus

acrocanthosaurus

sketches of some extinct critters :) (these are from a bit ago)

this one was from  8ish years ago

pooh.

random stuff!

mini paintings, some oil, some acrylic
3"x4"

2"x3"

...matryoshkas! oldest to newest

Kelenken sculpt that i never finished (this one i dropped and it pretty much exploded, sadly).

Kaiyodo rex i repainted some time ago, ive been dying to order the mini Krentz dinos, they look fun to paint  ^-^

thats more or less a good summery of my work, sorry for not sticking to just dinos  :) , if i come across anymore dino sketches i have, as well as new work ill update!

Gryphoceratops

Really cool art!  does one of your clients really hate kids or something?   :o

Did you use just oil paints on those tiny canvases?  I have one myself but I never bothered to paint on it.  After seeing yours now I would like to.

kingdomofspiders

i think after the carnotaur one people just liked the idea of dinosaurs eating kids (??). to be honest im not sure, ive never had a portrait order or anything like that, the t-rex one ended up eating Frank from Rocky Horror, but yea for the most part people have wanted them eating children for what ever reason haha

with the tiny painting, the oil ones are the alien, squid, bigfoot and i think the  Smoking skull (Gogh), all the rest are acrylic. the oils are much more rich in color, if you go oil on yours i recommend mixing in a resin to speed up the dry time  :) (i switched to acrylic because they make work go much faster)

I love ALL your theropods. And the kid eating is awesome >:D

I wouldn't dream of condoning something like that in real life, of course, even though I can't stand kids.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Wow, that's some awesome variety of work.  The embryos look very nice..easily able to used as a gaff for a sideshow I think.  It's great to see how you've learned as you progressed. The eyes and teeth are plain life-like.

I love the Suchomimus pair corning the kids BTW..lol

Yeah just hit me up when you can and we'll checkout the klown again. :)
