BEDROCK---Elizabeth Banks will star in this Fox/Warner Bros. Animation tv series underway that is a sequel to the 1960s animated tv series THE FLINTSTONES. The synopsis is, "BEDROCK catches up with the Flintstone family two decades after the original, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm's club."

Guess they did not want to use the actual time since Fred would be dead by now. I'm also pretty sure there is some Flintstones stuff that has Pebbles and Bam-Bam as adults. I also remember that Fred, Wilma, Barney, and Betty did not look older at all in those.

Maybe the should go with something different:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Blade-of-the-Moon

Yeah there are specials where Pebbles and Bam-Bam are grown and together.  I think there was a series too that had them with a band or something? I'm a big fan of the original Flinstones and the live action films..not sure about this "Bronze Age" deal though?

I like the Gennedy Tartakovsky inspired art there, I would watch that.

It says this will be an "adult" series, that sort of worries me a bit too..Family Guy with a Flintstones make over? Or like Harely Quinn? Which to be fair I did enjoy.

Of course, the original Flintstones was aimed at adults too - or at least, at a prime time audience. IIRC Fred and Wilma were the first couple seen sharing a bed on TV! But 1960s "adult" and 2020s "adult" are very different things.

I don't think Family Guy-style comedy would suit the Flintstones brand, but I could see something a bit more family-oriented but still mainly aimed at adults being fun. I'm imagining something more along the lines of Bob's Burgers or early Simpsons. Who knows what they'll actually do, though.

The Bronze Age premise could be interesting. The original Flintstones had Stone Age versions of all the mid-twentieth century conveniences; contrasting these with Bronze Age versions of early twenty-first century tech could offer some fun. Imagine Fred trying to figure out how to post global-freezing denial theories on Facescroll using his new smart shellophone, and trying to get Pebbles to help, which of course she's loathe to do because she doesn't want her friends to see what a Stone Age relic her dad is. Or something. I'm trying to believe that this might be good, but I keep having visions of the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. Just fart jokes and pointless pop culture references.*

I do like the promo art. It reminds me of Dan deCarlo-era Archie.

*To be fair, I didn't actually watch any of those movies, I'm judging them by the trailers - which ensured I would never watch those movies.

Blade-of-the-Moon

With kids here I saw em' so I know what you mean.  If it has something to give it a good story and the characters are likeable I'll watch it. I just worry it could turn out like that Adult Swim/Cartoon Network monstrosity...

I'm interested I wondering if they'll incorporate gradual dinosaur extinction most likely not but I'm actually for this.

Oh cool I don't really remember that film too much but now that there's so precedent for it I guess it's more likely now.

About people worrying about it being a family guy inspired show, get this.

Seth Mc.Farlane, the creator of Family Guy was going to remake The Flintstones exactly like Family Guy. But this has fell through.

Thank goodness

Better something new than a straight up Flintstones reboot. I just dislike how so many animated shows for the older target audience are so cynical. I really don't need Pebbles to say "ok rock boomer" and get an existential crisis because her Flintstagram didn't get enough likes. If this is more on the lighthearted side I'm sure to watch. I always liked the Pebbles and Bam Bam spinoff, it was cute.

Funy thing is that The Flintstones was originally not a series aimed at kids, as put by TV tropes:
QuoteWhile The Flintstones is considered a kids show nowadays, with merchandising, cereals and such, it was originally made for adults, and back then it was considered controversial, since it was the first TV show showing a married couple sleeping in the same bed. In its first two seasons Winston Cigarettes were (infamously) the main sponsor for the show, later replaced with Welch's Grape Juice after the show started to be more popular with kids (and became more kid-friendly as a result).

There also has been a more adult comic adaption by DC:

I havent read it yet, may need to look it up.

I've read a bit of the comic, and I like it, but it's definitely not much like the series in tone. There's a lot of political themes and some emotional heaviness; if you're looking for the TV show in comics form you will be disappointed.
