Retired and newly released figures from accessible companies

The Templar of the Past

Greetings brothers and sisters,

I've been dedicating myself to collecting since 2008, but I've only done so with utter seriousness and focus only since late 2022.

Since to make a collection of the breadth I'm aiming for is very costly I need to properly space out purchases and because of this I planned to collect a figure when it's retired or is released for the first time; while it's easy to find information on newly released figures it's not easy to do so for the ones that get retired.

Therefore, I'd like to know which figures have been retired (and released) since 2022 by what I term accessible companies, those which products can be easily found on sites such as Amazon, Lana Time Shop or Everything Dinosaur, the companies in question being: Schleich, Papo, CollectA, Safari, Mojo, PNSO, Haolonggood, EoFauna, Rebor, Creative Beast and Mattel.

I'd like to know about both extinct and extant animals and even fictional ones, as information for retired extant animals is even scarcer than it is for prehistoric ones.

Blessings

I highly recommend this site https://toyanimalwiki.mywikis.wiki/wiki/Main_Page. It is pretty accurate and up to date, I use it all the time. You can find all the following brands on here except for Mattel & Creative Beast. We try to update it when figures are released and/or retired. You can search by brand and view everything that has been released thus far.

For online shops, I highly recommend:

-Minizoo (best prices for CollectA, they have a big variety of brands)
-Everything Dinosaur (best Papo prices & lots of Rebor, Nanmu, PNSO, etc)
-Lanatime Shop (best prices for PNSO, HLG)
-https://modellpferdeversand.de/ big variety of modern brand animals

I also recommend viewing topics on here such as "New for 2022, 2023" etc...

Thanks for the remmomendations, even though I happened to know about Lana Time Shop and Everything Dinosaur, being already a great fan of the former (ED is also useful to get BOTM, though inflates the pricing a bit, though not nearly as much as Ebay).

Usually I buy Schleich, CollectA and Papo at local shops in my country.

I'll give a look at the Toy Animal Wiki (which doesn't seem to work at the moment?) though a section in the forum for retired models would certainly be helpful.

Ok, the site has returned working but I don't know how accurate it is.

It states Rebor Deinosuchus and PNSO Basilosaurus are still in production but I can't find them anywhere, even Titanoboa is listed as still in production, even though it's obviously not true.

Eh, I'm afraid the wiki is too inaccurate to be of use, even CollectA Rhomaleosaurus is said to be still in production there.

I'd prefer if you linked me posts from the forum.

The wiki favors extant animals more than prehistorics. Unfortunately I don't have the time or knowledge to make a list or link what is retired and what isn't, you might have to dig through some topics.

well, then I may have a look at modern animals.

I am an editor of the Toy Animal Wiki, I started less than a year ago so there's lots I haven't looked at.  However I've just done an overhaul of the CollectA deluxe prehistoric line page following your observation that a figure isn't listed as retired when it is.  I've added figures that were missing, listed when a figure is retired and corrected a few other things.  I believe the page is now up-to-date.  I intend to do the same as needed to the standard CollectA prehistoric line page.  For now though, here's the updated deluxe page: https://toyanimalwiki.mywikis.wiki/wiki/CollectA_Prehistoric_-_Deluxe_Collection

You could also look at DinoToyCollector:

https://www.dinotoycollector.com/

Many of us are members on there too and there is a regular thread on the Forum too.

Its probably a bit tricky to say which figures are retired (try the actual brand sites?), but DinoToyCollector does give the year the figure was made, so maybe a clue on how likely a given figure is to still be produced.

Good luck with the collecting anyway!

Thanks for the clues, though I'm not sure those companies have a section on their site with neat announcement of their retired figures (keep in mind for now I only want to know those that were retired during the last three years).

Anyway thanks for the encouragement, if you want you to help me you can check my other post for the full list of my missing models.

I plan to properly introduce myself and explain with greater detail what is my ultimate goal.

Blessings

I'm an editor for the dinotoycollector site as well, I started at the same time as for the Toy Animal Wiki.  You have to click on a figure's entry on the dinotoycollector site to see if it's retired.  I'm currently updating the CollectA entries on that site to show which are retired.  The pages I'm working on will be as up-to-date as possible...

For now you might find these links helpful for recently retired CollectA figures:

Thanks; if I may ask how does the Dino Toy Collector site work?

You can set up an account which will allow you to select which figures you have in your collection, give figures ratings, create a wishlist, comment on figures...  Or you can view it without an account where you can see what figures there are for each genus as well as details of figures such as when they were released.

Ok, how can I find somebody I can actually exchange those figures with?

The only way I can think of is by asking on forums like the two you have an account on or in Paleofiguras's group on Facebook.

The Templar of the Past

Cool.

I'm probably gonna ask around if anybody has got 10 specific models that I will sort randomly. Are you aware if anybody has the Dino Hazard Irritator and Rebor Deinosuchus?

With regards to the two figures you specified, B @bmathison1972 expressed interest in replacing their REBOR Deinosuchus with one by Haolonggood which is apparently being produced this year.

I mean, if Haolonggood is producing a Deinosuchus figure it kind of defeats the point, considering it would also be probably more accurate.

Companies don't generally announce retirements, so it kind of depends on someone noticing that a figure is no longer in their catalog or on their web site, or is being deeply discounted. I usually buy things soon after they become available if I possibly can, because even if a figure stays in production, paint work usually gets worse after the initial run.

Yeah, this has become my new policy too, specially after getting burned with Rebor Deinosuchus, I truly hope those rumors about Haolonggood making one are true.
Besides that 41% of retired model I have also have to buy around 26 new ones before the end of the year.
