Tragic news to report, people. Luis Perez AKA EmperorDinobot, has passed away. According to a post on his Facebook page, he succumbed to double pneumonia in a hospital this morning.

I really didn't know him well, but he certainly was a passionate collector and fiercely devoted to his friends and family. Made a lot of contributions to the DTB over the years. I'm very sad that he went so soon.

Oh, this is dreadful news. Thanks for letting us know, I'm in shock and hesitant to believe it, is it verified?

EmperorDinobot was a veteran blog reviewer and forum member who has been a big part of our community since the early days, so some sort of tribute or memorial will certainly be in order. Let me give it some thought. I'm open to suggestions.

As far as I can tell, it is sadly true.

Me, I'm going to try and write up a review of the Mattel Kileskus tonight and tomorrow, with a dedication to him at the end. He was originally slated to review that one, so I figure he would have wanted this.

That's a nice idea.

Thanks, but did you want to write and post an announcement as well? I really didn't know him very closely.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. I'm absolutely devastated to see this. Like actually cried upon seeing this. Man's been through so much lately, and despite it all he was nothing but supportive of me (and others) with everything I've been through lately (though it absolutely pales to his ordeals). At least his suffering is over and he can finally be at peace, and he can join his sister who passed last year. But I'm really going to miss his presence here, seeing updates to his collection, and his reviews so much.

Thank you avatar_suspsy @suspsy for passing this news along here.

No, you go ahead, I'm thinking of setting up a dedicated memorial page for him or something like that.  :(

That's nice of you.

ED did have several draft reviews going, but I'm guessing that they're all incomplete. Although who knows, if some of them are nearly complete or simply lacking images, maybe we could get someone else to contribute images and then we could still post them?

A monumental loss to the community. I didn't know him well but he was a constant presence here since before I joined. Looking back at the blog I see that his first review was in 2008, making him one of the first reviewers and one of the only reviewers to remain active since the beginning. I knew he had health issues and that his sister passed last year but I didn't know the severity of his illness. Judging by what Faelrin said it was worse than I was aware.

I was talking privately with Suspsy, who alerted me to his passing, and will also be dedicating a review in his honor, one of the figures he was wanting to review.  :'(

Faelrin

I had no idea he was reviewing here so long, though I know he was an active member back when I used to lurk in 2015 before joining in 2016.

It was and is tragic. He'll be missed, have no doubt.

That is terrible news. I didn't know him personally, although I knew he had a good presence here. My condolences and prayers to his family.

Turkeysaurus

I remember reading some of the stuff he has gone through over the months and it was so cruel and unfair i couldn't even respond to be honest. He was a warrior to the end for sure.

My condolences to his loved ones.

PrimevalRaptor

Really terrible news, I remember him a lot both from the time I still "lurked" on the forum here (god it's been a while) and his art on DeviantArt...deepest condolences to his family and friends.

SpartanSquat

Wow this really catch me...rest in peace
Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

Ajax88

I recall seeing his dinosaur drawings on Deviantart long before I even knew of The Dino Toy Forum. Very very sad news.

SBell

Oh no, that's so sad :(

If I recall, he'd been working through some family tragedy.

I remember his involvement from the very first days of the forum...
