Yes, sort of--I was approached by Safari (when I worked at a museum) to come up with potential  prehistoric sharks, crocs and amphibians for toobs (the latter one didn't get past initial brainstorming). So I was involved with the production of both of those toobs that year (not the sculpting or colours, just the species choices and some suggestions on the text for the info).

And so far, to the guess:

Of course it's prehistoric! I didn't think to say so, but yeah.

And the rest are nopes so far.

Quick bump. Apparently it's really hard.

So another hint. It's a small figure.

I am not saying. I think I gave enough hints-

Pretty sure it's out of production
German
Not a dinosaur
Not a reptile
Small figure

EDIT--Oh yeah, and it's aquatic
That should narrow the field nicely!

I wouldn't really consider those "small" figures. Hence the limited choices left...

Small ammonite

Nope. Again, not really a figure that would be considered 'small' (other than by comparison with the real animal, I suppose). I mean small as in actually a small-size figure.
