Carnegie Microraptor repaint

After my JP Allosaurus, I thought I'd try my hand at one of my Carnegie figures. I tried to make the feathers on my Microraptor iridescent blue/black, as the fossil evidence indicates it was.

I used Liquitex iridescent medium with various blue, greens, Payne's Gray and ivory black.

Unfortunately, this one is nowhere near as good as my Allo. The figure was much, much smaller, and I was much more restricted with the color palette. Also, I went in completely blind with the iridescent medium. There are so many layers of paint on this thing, some of the figure's textures are completely buried. You can see on the underside of the wings.

I got a little sloppy near the end, especially on the face, but now that I'm done I still like the little guy. Much more than the original color scheme, IMO.

That looks nice. I've been considering doing something similar to my microraptor.

That's a very thick coating of paint but it's no worse than some of the older Safari figures (and still way better than I could ever hope to achieve) and that colour scheme is gorgeous!
