I think the rex is pretty good...but then again I'm a rex lover ;D But green again? Really Carnegie?

Hey, it's actually closer to yellow this time around...baby steps...Carnegie  :D

I'm really digging  the "soft" texture look of the model; T-rex appears very polished, almost statuesque, here.

Where is the Carnegie Triceratops!?!? :D

Blade - you can tell the WS sculptor that he is better than Forrest Rodgers and that I for one wish that he was the Carnegie sculptor too!

I'm sure he'll read your message as he's a member, Ms. Rogers may as well. ;)

I honestly like both their styles..gives each line some variety.  Ms.Rogers does beautiful detailed sculpts but the detail is usually marred by the paint apps and in photos.  Just look at Martin's repaints of Safari figures..just beautiful work.

QuoteNo offense but I'm not interested at all in Ascent of Man. Cryptid toob is more interesting to me.
I agree. Are they making a cryptid toob? Has it been announced? That'd be awesome.

Ascent of Man is a cryptid toob ;) oops sorry, let me not derail the thread into cryptid land..... >:D

:o How do you figure? All those hominids existed just as assuredly as all the various dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures discovered and validated by science thus far.

Anyway, I like the new Tyrannosaurus but am not thrilled by it. Same old boring pose, the last Tyrannosaurus by Carnegie had a lot more character. That said it does look well sculpted, especially in the face. Like others have stated, I am worried about the accuracy of the tail and the legs do look stiff.
I like the ammonite, I don't have one of those yet and will certainly get this one.
The Ascent of Man toob does not excite me. I might get it someday but I still need the prehistoric sharks, crocs and Cambrian life toobs so this one is certainly not a priority. I cannot believe they have not done a pterosaur toob yet!

Seijun

Also not a fan of the pose on the trex. Head looks beautiful, legs look very stiff and unnatural. I am not bothered by the tripod technique but there are MANY ways the figure can still be positioned to give it more movement and a more natural appearance, while still keeping the tripod pose.

My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

Cryptozoologists claim that Bigfoots, Himalayan Man, Skunk Apes etc. are derived from supposedly extinct hominids (e.g. Homo erectus, Homo heidelbergensis) or are representative of a hybrid [e.g. Almas (modern man +Neandertal)]

And, then there is overlap, Homo floresiensis (Ebu gogo)- never really extinct according to some accounts.

Okay, no more cryptozoology stuff from me.

Hermes888

Let's get back on topic before all the cryptozoology stuff gets deleted, like it had when people started discussing the C. megalodon figure.
Any idea when we'll see the Velociraptor unnamed feathered Carnegie figure announced?

Alright, I thought you were suggesting that done of those animals ever existed which I would find peculiar but I think get what you're saying, more or less.

How do we know this other Carnegie will be Velociraptor? Perhaps it is Deinonychus...maybe an updated trio...with feathers. Wouldn't that be something!?

Until he explained what he meant, I was a bit confused too.

I'm basing my prediction off of three statements made: The figures will have wide appeal (Velociraptor has more brand recognition than Deinonychus), it will have feathers, and it will be a resculpt.
Really I guess we'll have to wait and see, though hopefully they'll reveal it sooner rather than later.

amargasaurus cazaui

The key to thinking  with Carnegie is they will not release a resculpt feathered of any kind unless there is enough fossil proof for it. To my own thinking that would make it far more likely they have redone the oviraptor or perhaps therizinosaur, or microraptor. The evidence for any forms of feathered raptors is still equivocal at best.....despite the likelihood .

hopefully they revile it period,   Safari has a bad habit of changing plans on us. Remember, the Concavenator was supposed to come out in 2012 but it was postponed.

Hello,  Several of the models in the Carnegi Line need improvemet.   Mainly the Stegosaurus, Allosaurus, Apatoesaurus, Acrocanthosaurus, and the Velociraptor(who should be featherd)

QuoteWell, we can't quite give away all our secrets, Nathan, but let me run you through the last few years to give you hope.

For 2012, we updated Brachiosaurus to reflect more modern views of the giant.
For 2014 we updated a dino that I think you are very aware of.

So it's safe to say we're not opposed to updating existing figures at all. And we've had quite a few fans request that feathered Velociraptor, so it's gotten a bit of attention

Isn't this suspicious?... ::)
However,I'm afraid of the possibility that the feathered dino is delayed...I hope they announce him soon,so I can't worry.

I think the new Carnegie will be their Microraptor repainted black.

That'd be a disappointment.

How can they call it a new figure, then? Wouldn't they at least make a new sculpt for it?

It's not a repaint...

Well guys you heard the man. heh  ^-^

What did you think of the Rex ?  I still think it needs some pics from better angles myself..especially of the tail.

haha well IMO I believe it's probably one of the best sculpts to date of a Trex, especially the head. A great addition to the line. I've seen the sculpt in person and it does not disappoint.

Takama

Mightyjprex, are you allowed to hint if the feathered figure has a long tail?

I don't think he's allowed to hint anymore, period. Just be patient and it won't be long now... 8)
