I guess they can release whenever they want..it's still not very impressive really..aside from being a alright looking shark.

For my own collection I try and make the best of things. I try to appreciate the figures I like or find to fit my particular likes and tastes, and accept that not all dinosaurs are going to be made perfectly accurate or sculpted so they can please everyone. I do not believe it possible to produce dinosaur figures that will satisfy each and every person, because some prefer the oversized feet while others do not mind the tripod style pose. I am surprised it has not become commonplace to just provide a little clear U shaped pedestal to cradle the tail for the theropods. It would be small, inexpensive, and could be rendered from clear plastic so as to provide no interference with the view or display of the dinosaur. .....
I will say thanks for your hard work Doug, and I myself appreciate the dinosaur figures being offered. The market is so rich and full with dinosaur figures compared to when I was a kid. I wish I had been given this many choices when I was younger. I hope you keep turning them out for years to come !!

Well-said, Amarga.

I believe I already apologised to you, once in the thread, and also via PM (and I did the latter of my own accord, I was NOT pressured into doing so by the mods or anyone else) I know I said harsh things in the past, but like I said, I apologised.

The question is why are you dredging those messages up when they're not relevant anymore? You said you forgave me for what I said, so why are you still acting like I've done something wrong to you?

I'm not the only one on the forum who has said things about your sculpting, but you're just going after me because I'm the most vocal critic. I'm trying to improve my behaviour, but yet you keep picking on me >:(

Do you have evidence that I have personally contacted Safari and asked for your removal? You don't, because I've never done it. I also said that I would never say those harsh words again, a promise which I have so far kept, have I not?

Is the Megalodon still being worked on by Safari Ltd. or did they give up on that model? Also, are they planning on releasing an updated version of the Microraptor (in black) in accordance with the latest scientific data?

Actually, what Ikissauro meant was that the Megalodon shark is being released right now rather than next year,on the ebay store that he has a link to on his comment above that he was kind enough to provide. ;D
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

Tq, I think you're taking this out of proportion and adopting an aggressive tone in the process. Doug isn't going after anyone, he is just publicly defending himself and his work from some hurtful recurring comments in this thread. He has explained himself well, and only provided those historical posts because details were demanded of him, by you. So, let's please put an end to this unconstructive discussion. Thanks  C:-)

Speaking of mammoths I would love a Imperial / Columbian mammoth

I too find the recent WS theropod figure's looks off putting. Just a matter of taste, but I have bought none. I did grab the two ceratopsians, and will grab next year's but that is more due to the lack of varied figures available than my like of the figures. I prefer the Papo pachyrhino to the new WS figures. I know the WS ones are more accurate, but there is a more...lifelike feel to Papo's poses and stances. Just..dunno, more **there**. Do I wish someone other than Mr. Watson were sculpting? Yes, I do. I do not feel that merely stating that opinion is a bad thing. I could give a detailed list of my issues, but it really boils down to personal taste of his style. No more or less. (No offense meant, of course, to you Mr. Watson).

We have always been fairly used to criticizing the figures using quite colorful descriptions in the past, without thinking the artist was actually reading our posts. I suppose we should keep it in mind, but it seems odd to hedge our typing. I dunno. (Yes, I understand that respect of fellow people is paramount either way).

I think Doug's sculpts are very nice :) I especially love the Ceratosaurus.

Stating our opinions is perfectly fine,  and it's not a matter of hedging our typing, just taking a bit more care in how we word things with respect to the artist and the work involved.  Often times we forget that real people sculpted these creations. They weren't just " Made in China " .  We wouldn't walk up to one of these people on the street and say these things to their face right ?

As an example , instead of " Man, I wish they'd find someone to sculpt for them, this line sucks. "  Why not " This particular sculpting style doesn't really appeal to me, perhaps the artist could experiment with something a little different ? " . One comment is derogatory while the other says the same thing and at the same time offers and idea.   Now these aren't my sentiments only examples. I'm only pointing out a what I think is a better way to respond.

Doug Watson, count me in with the people who appreciate and enjoy your work. I'd rather have theropods without ginormous feet than theropods whose tail tips aren't touching the ground.

Keep up the good work!

Wow!I'm not even sure I want to make any comment ;D
Anyhow, I think we just need to be more respectful when we post or make comments and realize that there is a fine line between stating one's personal taste or constructive criticism and being rude and disrespectful.
In the bigger picture, if you don't want/like a figure, then don't buy it. That simple.
So, can we just drop this already?

BTW, I'm glad that Doug is sculpting for Safari's WS line. Great figures, really gives the line a new life, IMHO ;)

Agreed. Let's move on.

Any further word on CollectA's releases yet ?

Again, I'm really looking forward to the new Carnegie Tyrannosaurus Rex. The head looks beautiful, a definite improvement over the 1999 version. Same goes for the forelimbs. The only thing I am disappointed about is that the tail looks a little thin.

I also wish we'd get more than just one Carnegie toy per year.

I'm so confused. I see Megalodon on ebay, but I thought they intended on retooling the figure based on DTF feedback ???

I love Doug Watson's ceratopsian figures; they are more or less on par with Papo's ceratopsians. I have the Vagaceratops, and the Diabloceratops and will be picking up 2014's Pachyrhinosaurus. I think he is also responsible for the brilliant Dimorphodon figure (which I have waited 20+years for!) and the rather elegant Gryposaurus. The rest of the WS dinosaurs line is pretty good for the most part, but I sometimes wish that WS can resume making figures on par with the lifelike Postosuchus.
