What pre 1995 books (I.e. Books from b-4 the discovery of Sinosauropteryx) have pictures of non-avian feathered dinos (excluding Avimimus & Syntarsus b/c, AFAICT, almost everyone was feathering them)? So far, I know of the following, but I think there are more.

Not a book, but there is a feathered deinonychus statue made by Otter Zell that is from the early 80's.

My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

I almost had a little statue like that on eBay once upon a time, and somebody outbid me at the last moment! Shame, it's a fascinating piece of history.

John C.McLoughlin, Archosauria.  1979.  It was one of the fist book I ever read depicting dines as warm-blooded, agile, non-tail draggers.  The author was a bit of a Greg Paul for his time, but kind of disappeared.  He drew a gorgeous feathered Coelurus.  Still holds up today.  This book, and Desmonds Hot Blooded dinosaurs had a massive impact on a little 10 year old Krentz.  I should post some pics of dinosaurs I sculpted ( and still have!) that were directly influenced by it.

UPDATE: I've since added "A Field Guide to Dinosaurs" & "The Humongous Book of Dinosaurs". While the latter was published in 1997, the magazine series of which it's made dates "back to the halcyon pre-Jurassic Park days of 1992" ( http://chasmosaurs.blogspot.com/2011/05/vintage-dinosaur-art-guest-post.html ).

This is a real old thread, but the Deinonychus in David Peters's Gallery of Dinosaurs was feathered. That was 1989.

I've always liked this speculative proto-bird by Burian:

It's of course been proven wrong since, although it's interesting he feathers all four limbs.

Thanks for posting the image of the transitional form, brings back happy memories.

Ive always found it funny how that thing just looks like a Komodo dragon with some random flashy bird pelts draped over top of it! I really dont get what they were thinking sometimes  ;D. But hey, it will be us someday, a bunch a dudes sitting with their magic supercomputers mocking John Conway  :P XD .

I totally had this in my "Prehistoric Animals" sticker book by Panini back in '86.

Not mine, but here's a link with photos of the book. https://chasmosaurs.blogspot.ca/2011/04/vintage-dinosaur-art-panini-dinosaur.html
