Is the old Carnegie Brachio considered rare?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAFARI-LTD-Dinosaur-Model-Figures-LARGE-BRACHIOSAURUS-37-x-20cm-x13-Brand-New-/221493350254?pt=UK_Collectables_AnimalCollectables_SM&hash=item3392084f6e

If so, there's a chance for us in the UK to grab a load of them for rock bottom price (tags and all).

stargatedalek

I don't think they are especially rare, they seem to show up at discount retailers shockingly often, I got mine for only $0.50
thats still an absolute steal, safari (last I knew) was still selling them for a pretty penny

Only the first generation figures with the original paintjobs (there are different ones, depending on the country they were released in) are considered rare. And even those had a worldwide mass circulation. This is for example the German version distributed by Schleich in 1988.

CityRaptor

Given that the color in the auction had a far shorter run than the original, it might become sought after in the future.  If it becoms or not, that is still a pretty good opportunity for those in the UK.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

I spotted this very expensive Dinocrats plesiosaur for sale:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301244519216?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2661&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

This seller often seems to charge a lot for dinosaur models, but has this figure really become that rare?

I do actually have it, buying it some time ago in a job lot of Inpros (with which it is often confused). Its not a bad figure, but £90?

It was supposed to be an Inpro before they imploded (I have the blue version). You;d have to be pretty hardcore to pay that much for it.

Just another case of eBay sellers artificially inflating prices, as is their wont... :-\

TQ - I've noted this seller does this a lot, he/she was selling that chinasaur Placerias for £10 recently, the one that Everything Dinosaur is selling as cheap as chips.

Sean - Do you know any more about its connection to Inpro? I wondered if there was one when I first got the figure, but put it down to coincidence.

Thanks UK, that's really helpful and explains a few things I've wondered about the Inpros, like the varying hardness of the plastic between the figures .

I'll definitely hang on to the plesiosaur, as an honorary Inpro at least,  so that my set is complete.

You're welcome.

That was an excerpt courtesy of Joe Demarco from his wonderful digital 'Dinosauriana'. It's a shame more people have not supported the work. It's breadth is staggering. The Inpro collection photographed was formally mine but now Chad's.

Here!  http://demarxo.com/book/   I have one.  In fact some of the pictures in it are of your figures.

I wondered where the excerpt was from and have noticed the ad for it in PT. It looks really good and I'm going to get my girls to get me it as a Xmas pressie (I have to plan ahead carefully with this hobby, not a lot of spare cash for it!)

That's cool. Annoying that I never heard directly from Joe about it (Boki contacted me, asking if I was okay with Joe contacting me about it, but I never heard from him). Might have been nice for a heads up, at least to know which ones--depending on the photo, I often don't upload the highest quality one, and I don't know where they even came from.

What figures are they?

Joe tried a number of ways to try to get hold you SBell but for whatever reason was unable too. He has been fastidious in his attempt to attribute owners names to photos in his book.

I am sure he would love to hear from you as he had nothing but the highest regards for you

Weird--I gave Ash my current (best-to-use) email to send him and everything (I checked, and it was correct). It has changed several times since we were last in touch. He could have just found me through here too, of course.

No matter, just curious which ones he used. I had said to Ash that it was okay by me; however, some of my earliest photos are less-than-stellar, and I probably could have improved upon them (assuming it was of figures I still have; there are lots that have since been passed on).

Chad

I just want to second that Dinosauriana is pretty great. Go out and get it!
