Paleogene Pals

The picture of the Stego on the sticker book reminds me of the unreleased Prehistoric Scenes Stego by Aurora.

Damn nostalgia! I have some of them from my childhood.
Also the Iguanodon resemble to Godzilla!

Quite the topic this has turned into.  :)

I'd love to have a copy of the stego art framed and on my wall. So nice to look at... has kind of a retro look to it. <3

I can use my scanner on that book and send you an hi-def picture if you want. No problem. In case, contact me PM.  :)

Thanks for offering! Your picture was sufficient (when are they not!?).  :) I put it into Photoshop earlier, tweaked it a little, and now have an 8.5in x 8.5in print. It came out real nice. I just need to frame it and put it on the wall. Thanks again for offering to scan.  :)

EDIT: I knew the art reminded me of something. I just got this from the garage. Have had it since I was a kid in the early 90's. The stego from the Panini sticker book cover reminded me of the stego in this book, which has evidently been engrained in my mind since I had this book.

I still have many of the Panini dinos--and I think we still have the sticker album, although it is incomplete.

Oddly, I had lots of the Dimetrodon, but could never find the Cynognathus to complete the set. At least until much later, when I found them sold as bin figures that were exactly the same.

I no longer have most of the set though. There's only so much space for everything...

Wow. I just can't believe that a guy on Ebay tries to sell the original stickers album for £ 2.000 !!   :o

It is pretty old and a gem for lovers of retro paleoart (especially considering several stickers in this album didn't make it into the 1990 album). But 2,000 pounds is a little bit too steep indeed...

I still have this album with all stickers.
It's from my childhood and I won't sell it.
I'm thinking about scanning in hi-res and upload it on the web for free viewing.
Someone else did that with english version.
The original italian version (1974) is a little bit different.  ;)
I like retro paleoart too....  ^-^

I dont recall the sticker book or dinosaurs but am pretty sure that the book was in my school library growing up in the 70's.

I´ve got the complete sticker book in Austrian version (same as German and Swiss) at home and all of the figures except for the Tyrannosaurus.

Unfortunately the display 'mountain' disintegrated over time and is gone...
Some great childhood memories are connected to these. I´d never give them away... :)

I think I had the Dyatrima at one point. I also saw this:

These might be genuine molds or copies of them. Simba seemingly is not above selling knock-offs as seen here:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Roselaar

Paninisaurs have been ripped off on many occasions. In fact, in my local toy stores there is still a line of figures sold that uses the same molds with new paint jobs (after 25 years!). And new names in most cases, but few corretc ones. You're pretty ignorant when labeling a Moropus an Allosaurus... :)

Well, that makes sense, given that Marx Rip-offs are still around.  Seems like they also got a release for The Lost World:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

If you like retro paleoart, here it is the complete, original 1974 italian version of the Panini stickers album "Prehistoric Animals".
I hope you'll enjoy...  :))

Thanks to Roselaar I have the original Dimetrodon.

I've updated the photo in the first post too.

yesterday i found the triceratops (10)
- i have the proto figure and the sticker book since 1992 (unfortunately i cannot find the display mountain) -
and, searching infos about the figures,
i found that every figure was released in two shade of colors
(just if some of you is a super-completist and didn't know that)
and that the same figures were released with the following sticker books: DINOSAURS (panini, 1992); ANIMALI PREISTORICI (Panini, 1992) e DINOSAURI (fol-bo, 2000)... so maybe that's why there is a little difference between them.

Roselaar

I didn't know about those colour variations. Any pictures to illustrate it?
