Kaiyodo Dimetrodon limbatus (Great Leaps in Evolution)
Scale: 1:40
Sculptor: Seiji Yamamoto
Released: 2015

Kaiyodo Trochosaurus (Dinotales 3)
Scale: 1:10
Sculptor: Seiji Yamamoto
Released: 2002

IMO that Kaiyodo Dimetrodon is the nicest small figure of the genus, it looks lovely! It would be great if they released an Edaphosaurus in a similarly small scale, would be an instant pickup. I find Edaphosaurus to be a more interesting animal than Dimetrodon is, the latter of which I think is a bit of an overrated animal considering the variety of other pelycosaurs there is.

Looking at that Trochosaurus, I would've guessed it is a gorgonopsid, but turns out it's apparently not!

Also noticed you have no Aristonectes or Stomatosuchus in your collection, which I take to mean that there are no figures at all of said genera. A shame, I think both of them are quite interesting. If they're coming from anyone, my bet is on CollectA, as per usual.

Kaiyodo: Edaphosaurus?  No, have another Tyrannosaurus!
Jokes aside, the set that Dimetroodon comes from is remarkable for not having a Tyrannosaurus or Triceratops.  I have the Ichthyostega from it and I'm grateful Kaiyodo made it!  I have also considered getting that Dimetrodon, I agree with you and Tim that it's the nicest small figure of the genus.  I ultimately chose the Eikoh version over it as I prefer its pose.  But both are too small for me now, I intend to get larger Dimetrodon figures.  I think Dimetrodon has been overrated in the past, but with Spinosaurus generally replacing it I no longer think it is overrated.

Aren't all other Dimetrodon figures in the 1:15 - 1:25 scale range or so? If not all, most are, definitely. Unsurprising considering these animal's sizes, though that also means that for 1:35 scale collectors those figures are a pass.

The 1:35 scale being so popular mostly means it's the larger species that get the preference, even if smaller species like Dimetrodon or Edaphosaurus (and Deinonychus, etc) are also feasible. I hope that at some point these 1:35-centric companies will be releasing figures of smaller species in 1:35 scale too! So one wouldn't need to resort to 3-D printed resin figures from independent artists, that is.

Recently I've been thinking how members of this forum used to wish for large titanosaurian figures when it seemed like there was no way they would be made, but now Haolonggood has been making them and large figures of other sauropods too.  Eventually everything people want seems to now be getting made, except for small figures of small species.  I wonder if that will change eventually?  Sets of small species either of all the same species, or of different species, seem like they could work.  Safari's toobs tend to sell well and they are all sets of mini figures.

That set was entirely based on non dinosaur species that stand out!

I wouldn't hold my breath on Kaiyodo doing anything like Edaphosaurus any time soon. It's been a long time since they've done anything in that scope

I hope that changes! I've said it before but I value maintaining the 1/35 scale more so than most others here it seems. I would love some 1:35 Deinonychus (ordered some unpainted ones on Etsy) and velociraptors - real ones and JP inspired to go with my more scientific displays and JP clones. I love the idea of having relatively accurate sizes between species but I imagine I'm largely alone in this respect. 1/35 Utahraptor might be a bit more feasible for companies to make I suppose
Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean
