I haven't found any info on it on this forum. Maybe I'm just not digging deep enough to find the fossils, but from what I have found, I see that it was some sort of rare collectible version of their standard rex. Some users on this forum have one, like SuperFunReviews, so I'd like to request some information on it, please!

I think what you said kinda covers all there is to say about it. Though I didn't think it was frustratingly uncommon, but I could be wrong about that.

I'll help you out as best as I can since I have one.

The Gold Rex is a limited exclusive to some Asian countries and that general region such Korea, Japan, and Australia.  I've heard the run was only suppose to be around 200 pieces which I don't believe is correct.  I think its more like the Walmart exclusive Red Rex we have here in the States.  It was released I believe sometime last year.

I got mine a few months ago through a Japanese buying service which the only extra costs was the overseas shipping.

Here is the link to my Gold rex online gallery for your reference:

As for buying one... I got mine through Toys R Us Japan and their banners assisted me with my purchase.  Unfortunately, I don't see it listed there anymore.  I did find it elsewhere, but the prices are much steeper.  If I see one for a good price, I will let you know.

I hope this helps you a little.

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

You are right. So either it is a fake or Schleich just spraypaints them gold. Sounds both possible...
