Looking good! I think the sense of 3 dimensions is improving.  I think if you give the animals some lighter areas where light hits, then that would give them more of a 3 dimensional shape.  I find that detailing every scale with the same level of intensity leaves the subject rather flat. Of course it always depends on the style you're going for too... Keep up the good work!
