The increased girth on Wilson is much appreciated.
I think it looks much better.
At least from the photos, there isn't much loss in sculpt detail on the later releases as well.

I've always held the Greg Wenzel Battats (versions 1 and 2) to be the best mass produced featherless tyrants ever made. This is a worthy rival.

I was thinking similarly. I didn't get the previous Wilson but I'll have to pick up this one.

Sarapaurolophus

They really improved Wilson! Looking less like a hungry scavenger now.

avatar_Sarapaurolophus @Sarapaurolophus , good observation. The first version made the speculative ossioderms rather obvious, giving it a kind of "scraggly" look. This is better. The detail is beautiful.

I heard talk of PNSO's possible upcoming releases awhile back, but forgot what they were. Do we know of what any of those may be? (Also does anybody still have an image of the leaked lipped wilson head sculpt?)

Got the original Wilson in the mail today.

About a week ago, the 2020 version arrived, so I'm glad I can now do some comparisons.

The eyes on the new one are a huge improvement to the original, but the teeth on the original were done a bit better.

The new Wilson was bulked up from a dorsal point of view, which I find interesting because that extra mass does not hinder the balance. I'd have to warp the heck out of the originals feet to even be able to try to get it to stand without the base.

However, you can see that Wilson 2020 is skinnier from a ventral point of view.

But Wilson 2020 seems to be rounder in general.

As far as the paint scheme goes, they're both fantastic in different ways. I actually think they would do well as a mated pair.

SidB

Well done with your latest acquisitions. They are quite a pair. In regards to the dentition of the newer version, I had to do a little minor "clean-up" of the teeth - nothing major fortunately. Yes, the eyes were done better.

There was a photo in the first post of the "PNSO new for 2020" thread, but it was a Facebook image URL, so predictably it has disappeared. As I recall the best hypotheses were Tyrannosaurus, Parasaurolophus, and Borealopelta.

avatar_EverEvolvingSaurian @EverEvolvingSaurian and avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres - here is a stable link to the teaser from Dan's Dinosaurs.  Apologies for not putting it up earlier.  My desktop was being mended and despite considerable effort, I failed dismally to upload a photo from Flickr to the Forum via my phone:

"Coming Soon" - Well, not so soon.  O:-) That photo has been around since late April...

PNSO has always been quite arbitrary and unpredictable about the timing of their releases.  We have the new version of Wilson, we have the pair of youngsters.  So at least they are active and still in business and managing to get some things out amid the pandemic.  I guess it will be the usual thing of suddenly and without any warning, something else will pop up from them.  Looking on the bright side, we'll probably get a pleasant surprise one day!

Oh wow, if the silhouettes do reveal the shape and pose of the final sculpt, some of these could be very exiting! (Alongside the species choices)

The one I find most interesting personally is the Thalassodromeus; too bad it will probably cost at least $1,000.

The (new) PNSO Megalodon has less seam lines.
It seems the build quality has improved!

Here a comparison of a 2019 review model (youtube) and my one (got it today from Everything dinosaur)
Very cool - I will build another diorama with it.

I really like the new bulky version of Wilson. But it´s sad that they again igored his too small head.
It looks too thin and undersized comapred too full grown T.rex skeletons.

I imagine that sort of retooling would have been too complicated on the mold if the goal was to keep the price on this new version lower. That, and the lack of the base probably meant they didn't want it to wind up being too front heavy.

Also, the box the new one came in had the traditional PNSO booklet complete with anecdotes from the dinosaur in question. This 2020 Wilson said something along the lines of "I will soon be leaving PNSO, but fear not. Someone new and better will be there in my place" leading me to believe this is the third and final version of this mold and a new rex is all but guaranteed.

Shonisaurus

Honestly, it is very good, the new version of PNSO tyrannosaurus is an improvement over the previous ones with respect to the fact that it is balanced on the other hand, this of the three versions of PNSO tyrannosaurus reminds me a lot of the three versions of Battat's tyrannosaurus.

The evolutionary similarities of old (vintage) toy dinosaur brands are seen with respect to current toy dinosaur brands such as PNSO. History repeats itself.

SidB

History does indeed repeat itself, though in this case, with a twist.

Remko

At first I wasn't going to get the new Wilson, as I thought it was just a repaint, but seeing the figure has been modified a bit made me change my mind. So ordered it from Everything Dinosaur last night. Can't wait for "her" to arrive. Would indeed make a nice pair.
