Who wants a Sauropod carcass? BIG UPDATE!

AcroSauroTaurus

Just for fun, and since it relates to dinosaur figures, how many people would like to have a sauropod carcass be made?

Well if CollectA ever want to add a deluxe carcass...

suspsy

A Brontosaurus or Apatosaurus carcass from CollectA would nicely round out the Classic Big Four. And if they really wanted to push the envelope further, make it only part of the carcass. Or even multiple sections. Add in a couple of their crouching Saurophaganax figures and you've got a perfect diroama! ;D

I'd love a dead Sauropod. If we're talking Collecta, I'd love any large Sauropod figure anyway, they're not high on those.

Georassic

Oh, yes. And what Suspsy said about pushing the envelope.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I would like less fresh, more desiccated remains for something..an older kill.

Ok, so you guys may be wondering why exactly I started this topic, and well it was to see how many people would want a sauropod carcass made, and before I started this topic I had started a new sculpt and I started this topic to see how many people would like my new sculpt, and now that its finished I can reveal it to the forum. You guys wanted a sauropod carcass... and I delivered. I present my new sculpt to be made into a model: the carcass of a juvenile Sauroposeidon, the model is approximately 13in long and the wounds include a large opening in the side, claw slashes all over the body, (some of the shallower ones are scars that have healed) a gash in the left chest, a gash in the right shoulder, missing tip of tail, the left foot is torn off, there is a large long gash in the throat with the trachea lying outside the body, and the head is torn off. (a hint to the next model) This sculpt took around 11 hours to make, and had extra scientific input by our very own BladeOTM. This sculpt will be molded and casted in plastic as a model, just like CollectA's carcasses. Here are the pictures. Sorry they aren't very good, the sculpt looks a lot better in person.

Overall look:

Rear half:

Back:

Belly:

Torn off head and gash in throat with the trachea pulled out:

Front:

I hope I pleased you all with what will be the first ever figure of a sauropod carcass. ;D

I think REBOR would do a better job (than CollectA), especially as a base for another figure (e.g. Giganotosaurus?). CollectA sauropod will be small....like really small.

:)  Will you paint them?

I will paint one as an example, but otherwise they will be sold unpainted, unless some people who aren't very experienced with painting figures want me to paint theirs. Martin would do a really good job.  ;)

This is just the sculpt that will be molded and casted and sold as figures so it isn't intended as a sculpture. ;) And the figures I make from it won't be sold painted unless some people who aren't very experienced with painting figures want me to paint theirs.

Haha! probably, the predators all carried the heads away...

Thats brutal  ;) very good job...

Thanks! The missing head (and the whole carcass in general) is a hint to a second figure I will be making a sculpt for. And subadult to adult Sauroposeidon only had one predator. ;)

Only one predator? I think that means an Acro!  :D
Nice sculpt, and I can't wait to see the Acro. Who's going to mold these? Members making models is always exciting! One thing I would say, is when doing cross hatching, avoid a checkered grid, as it can look like it was just scratched with a tool. Try to do main lines that follow the motion of the animal or just how gravity would pull, and then do smaller random ones to look like creases. Then you can soften the lines and extra clay with a brush/alcohol or a different tool.

I won't confirm the next model yet, ;) And one of my friends knows how to make molds and stuff so he's the one who is going to do it. And originally they did follow the body form, but got a little straightened in the oven.

That is an impressive sculpt!  I wouldn't buy one, personally, because aesthetics wise I don't like carcasses on my shelf, but I love what you've done here  :))

I can hardly wait to see it painted!

Well, theres always the next figure i plan on sculpting, the species will be a secret until i get the sculpt done, but the next one will have part of the carcass with it.

Well, for those of you who saw my Sauroposeidon carcass, here is the logo for my new dinosaur figure line, which is coming soon! And will include the Sauroposeidon carcass and Dunkleosteus as the first figures.
