Here are a few that do not belong with my team sauropod.

First a dinotales Allosaurus wandering a rocky incline

My carnegie Tylosaurus, I had signed by Michael Everhart, the paleontologist who was the consultant for the figure.
The next figure is a DinostoreUS compie, life sized. I love this dinosaur !
Next up a Carnegie Beipiaosaurus takes a stroll around the yard.
The next picture was an experiment..the idea was make a scene for a dinosaur egg display showing a nest in mongolia, somewhere mid Cretaceous. The players are a Caudi guarding her nest, a Dilong trying to pilfer the eggs, and a juvenile Tyranosaur stalking a hysphilodont. (hope I spelled it right)
A postosuchus stalking.(not actually a dinosaur but ...)
A dimetrodon getting some sun( also not a dinosaur but still a neat picture)
Makes you wonder if this was a possible meeting or not?

I have been having alot of fun here. I probably started a few too many threads for being so new, but they all seemed to fit within specified formats so I hope it was not an issue. As for the diorama contest, sorta got my eye on that Papo t rex or Miragia if I can pull it off, so I will give it the old college try.

Thought I might add my Transformer orginal dinobot leader Grimlock to the thread here.

           Thunderbird
         Quetzalcoatlus

The hunting party had been lost for days,
Deep in the badlands, in the stone and sand maze.
These were Sioux warriors proud and strong.
By night their campfires were filled with their loud song.

Then late one night, as the stars drew near,
A quiet, a hush a chill and fear.
The skies changed colors and the earth lay awake in its fright.
Something was coming, in the depth of the still night.
Suddenly with vivid flashes, and sizzling fright,
the lightning ripped and rent the night.
The storm was upon them in a flood of sound,
As the ice cold rain drenched the ground.

Off in the dark distant sky the warriors saw....
A sight that left them trembling in awe.
Carved of lightning and massive in form,
Rent and shaped from the heart of the storm.
Falling to earth in a shattering sound...
as it ended its flight upon the ground.
It was a bird of such massive shape and wonder,
This glorious bird, a god of thunder.

The braves were true and strong of heart
but still waited till daylight to make their start.
They would find this massive fallen form,
that had brightened the night during the storm.
They rode for days as the birds might fly...
in a direction where they saw the bird crash
from the sky.

Finally, they came to a ledge of stone....
Buried within, a form of stone.
They climbed off their horses and stared in wonder.
They had found their "God of Thunder"
Their massive bird had fallen in such a way,
He was buried in stone and was there to stay.
They called this bird their mighty god of  thunder
A source of praise and legend and wonder.

Thunderbird, thunderbird , You have fallen.
Your children are glad you have heard them calling.
Thunderbird Quetzalcoatlus

I misposted my response so I will redo it here to make sure its read. My compy came from this site.

The dinosaur is a 1/1 replica so the shipping can get kinda out of hand, be careful. Still a very nice replica and quite impressive given its lifesize scale.

I hoped I might ask if anyone has done a thread or knows particularly much about the hollow sandbox type dinosaurs that have been around clear back to the sixties. From what I understand they are still being manufactured today so I wondered if there are different moldings for the pieces, thus being more collectible..or for that matter colors that are rarer etc?

I have been quietly trying to learn to paint some of my old models and figures done throughout my life, in a better, more appealing fashion. Working with acrylics and learning by trial and error, and often taking a finished figure and throwing it back on the stack to redo, I have slowly been making some progress, to making them better. Most of them are models and toys I have owned since the sixties or seventies, painted with enamels and an eight year olds eye for detail so the going is often slow.

The Para I actually am very fond of. I chose to leave this one and call it finished , and shelf it. I have the infant, that I am redoing now as well, and I hope to paint similar but less obvious striping than the adult.

The large Apatosaurus is nicer then it was at least !!!
I had hoped for suggestions, ideas, inputs and criticisms here to improve the work...long as its useful and constructive ideas and input are welcome please.

A couple weeks back on ebay I bought a small lot and it had the little plastic winged lizard, that Stemturtle has been kind enough to teach me is called a Kuehneosaurus. The poor little guy was suffering from post kid tried to paint me with crayons syndrome, and had lost a leg in some unknown foray to some long forgotten back yard.
So I tried emergency triage with the leg, and then a basic paint scheme to hide the fifty shades of wax crayon. Figured it would be alright to place him with Mr Rutiodon. Not quite happy with the previous version I took another pass at painting the litttle guy..take two.

Yes, those are Tootsie Toys. I have heard that they are still manufactured, but I have yet to find anyplace selling them new.
My living room smells like old plastic dinosaur toys... Better than air freshener!

What I keep wondering is which ones are more sought after, what colors? Are there mold varieities and various things to look for? I have a large box of them in the basement from lots I have gathered over the years so I am curious if anyone knows much more about them? If they have been made almost non-stop since the fifties or sixties surely there are certain colors or markings that are sought after?

Ah, good old Tootsies ;D The Dino figures are common enough to find that they don't command much in terms of $$ value. Now the prehistoric mammal on the other hand are much rarer and some like the Giant pig can fetch decent price on ebay (saw one go for $30 -40!)
