Bathtub (Yang Yang) the Chinese sculptor returns with his new Acro 2.0

Bathtub is new to the field of sculptures but very old friend to Chinese dinosaur model community.
To date, he has 5 finished works, all carnivores.
Here is his June 6th announcement of Acrocanthosaurus 2.0



"Almost 1 year since my last work. I have paused the making of a 1:20 giganotosaurus GK due to no motive in the second half of last year.
So I decided to find motive in other species. I recalled my first work - Acrocanthosaurus
It was beloved by many and quickly sold out at the time of release.
I thank everyone's generous support. It was in that friendly environment that I was able to grow in to a 'real' GK sculptor.
Yet, Acrocanthosaurus 1.0 was imperfect - not satisfying to be exact.
As my very first work, I owe it some serious elegance and gorgeousness.
With refined skills and perception, I am able to make it happen to my Acro 2.0"




Resurrection is unique. I put massive muscle to its spine (reference of bison). It is not very popular in other models.
It has a forward attacking pose, a rising head, a hugely opened jaws, declaring the absolute king of early Cretaceous North America.
Whether it's hunting a gaint sauropod, or catching a flying Pterosauria, or intimidating one of its own kind, it is all up to your imagination."

I have to say that so far,this new Acrocanthosaurus atokensis is the best one of it's species that I've seen.

the first batch has only 40 of them.

the price is about 100 bucks for the GK.

the finished product will be out at the end of July.

I actually like the first version better. My Acros gotta have that low spine. The second version didn't have much of one at all.

The current thinking is that the tall neural spines were sites for muscle attachment rather than a sail-like structure, like a bison.

Since the original posting I've managed to acquire this kit and it is a thing of beauty even in deassembled resin form. I'll have to send it over to Martin...

well, since it's limited, and it's been released for quite some time, one can no longer find it on taobao.
