I will never understand the negative reactions to Jurassic Park becoming a franchise. I can see why people want better movies, especially when they share a name with a classic, but just because there are going to be 6 JP movies doesn't mean you still can't enjoy the first. None of the sequels live up to the original, that I agree with, but if your enjoyment of the original is negatively affected by a mediocre sequel 25 years later, then how much did you really love it?

While you do have a point, there's also this feeling about the original being something special, and seeing people trying to churn out all these sequels seems disrespectful somehow. Your enjoyment of the original isn't going to be negatively affected, but it does cheapen the name of "Jurassic Park" and in doing so, the overall image of the movie by proxy.

On the other hand, for what it's worth, while I'm still not exactly happy about the Jurassic Park concept being stretched thin like this, I do think Fallen Kingdom has the most interesting idea of any of the Jurassic Park sequels. I just hope it's executed in such a way that does the idea justice.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Can anyone recall if the DX prion disease from TLW is canon?  I recall it from marketing images and product but not much in the film proper.   Would have some severe consequences if so.

Beautiful poster, but the gyrosphere should have been placed on the opposite side, it's annoying that it hides the Carnotaurus' head.

Blade-of-the-Moon

works better for the humans line of sight though "shrugs".

...
.....
.......
........ was that the skeleton of the Indominus under water? hmmm... 'guess it was only partially eaten....

Loon

Feel bad for that poor guy on the helicopter's rope.

Flaffy

Welp. That's the full movie shown.
All the surprises and mysteries spoiled....
Jump scares ruined....
Plot revealed....

I honestly wonder who approved these trailers, and how do people accept this.

Spoiler
They should've saved the Indoraptor reveal and the fate of the Mosasaurus for the movie, and many more things as well.

Nowadays all trailers have spoilers, sadly. The Indoraptor was shown even after shown in the trailer, by the toy reveal. Still no Stiggy scenes shown, at this point it's role is going to be the only surprise, that and what the escaped dinosaurs will do, if they are shown doing something at all.

Putting these thoughts in a spoiler for those that haven't watched the trailer yet:

Spoiler
I'm sure there's more in store (I mean the movie is like 2 hours long), but maybe that's because I'm optimistic? At the very least Stiggy was not shown, so at least I'll have to see the movie to see how/what their role is (although I was planning to anyways because of the volcano plot). I agree that too much was shown of the Indoraptor, but all the same I don't mind it much because I'm familiar with how the toy looks, so it really makes no difference for me. Definitely lots of callbacks to the raptors in the first movie (toe claw tapping, door opening, etc), which is cool, since Blue is a protagonist, and I doubt she will be slaughtering people left and right with Owen at her side/command.

Anyways I think I definitely liked what I saw. I really hope that stays the case for the final film since I have mixed feelings about Jurassic World overall. But regardless at least it has an awesome Carnotaurus (and Baryonyx) this time around, so that's something for me at least. Also Stiggy I think.

I'm sure there's much more to see, and I'm super hyped. I love the new trilogy so far, and I think FK has the potential to become my favourite of the whole franchise. Feels a lot like the dark chapter, like TLW was for the original trilogy.

paintingdinos

Honestly, this is the first trailer that's really got me interested in seeing the movie on the big screen (eager for those Mosa scenes!!)

Wild speculation under the cut
Spoiler
There's no way that Mattel employee over-emphasizing the importance of Indoraptor being male is going to be lost. My bet is they do something wild, like kill Blue off in the end... only to discover she's laid eggs and those raptors will be the next film's protags. Who knows!

Yeesh. There's homages and then there's simply not having enough imagination for a sequel. And yeah, it's ridiculous how much trailers give away these days. Fortunately, I don't care about being spoiled.

'Been reading through the press releases - they're stressing that the 2nd half of the film will be a "horror movie" in set in modern environments for the creep factor.  They seem to think "raptors" creeping through hallways and opening doors is the nightmare fuel entertainment that the viewing public want.

Personally, I'm still hoping for a future sequel that's straight up simple forest survival horror with dinosaurs. With scenes like the protagonist hiding between sauropod legs to avoid the predators.

On topic... can't wait to see the whole film.  Let's see if this last trailer really spoiled everything (I hope not).

I feel like that's a lot more dangerous of a situation to be in.

Neosodon

1.13 - Are those feathers? Or at least quills. Maybe after another half dozen or more sequels we will get fully feathered raptors.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

The Indominus rex had quills like these too (although so did the raptors in JPIII somewhat). This is more of the same I think, since the Indoraptor is probably an Indominus rex/Velociraptor hybrid this time.

CityRaptor

The Indominus Rex already had Raptor DNA, which was a plot point, explaining her intelligence and how she was able to take over Blue's pack. I figure that the Indoraptor has a similar genetic set up, but instead of T. rex as the base genome, it is Raptor as the base genome. Of course there are also other differences, but this should be the most prominent one.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
