2018 hopes & Dreams

Neosodon

Giganotosaurus was 13 meters in length while Apatosaurus was 22. If safari is trying to be to scale with the Carnegie Apatosaurus it should be around a foot long. The WS Apatosaurus on the other hand is allot smaller and defiantly not to scale. I don't remember the length of the Giga but I don't think it's that far off.

The T Rex should be to scale with the Tricertops. It would be nice if someone did a comparison shot. It should be 1.5 X as long.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

Hi,
Now that many brands have Revealed their 2017 collection, it's time to start the 2018 hopes and Dreams!

My wishes are:

Updated Spinosaurus (any brand excluded CollectA, that have yet do it)
Epidexipterix Hui (any brand)
Microraptor gui (CollectA, Papo, Rebor, PNSO)
Feathered T-Rex (Papo, Schleich, Rebor)
Mosasaurus (Papo, Schleich, Rebor)
Sinornithosaurus (any brand)
Tanystropheus (any brand, hopefully, a Little bit larger than the Carnegie version, with bendable neck and movable jaw).

Papo:
Dunkleosteus
Pentaceratops
Therizinosaurus
Iguanodon
Flying Tupuxuara
Quetzalcoatlus
Compsognathus (doesn't matter if Is feathered or in Jp style)
Ammonite

Killekor

I really hope there isn't a feathered T-Rex from Papo, they've already released 3 sculpts and 8 figures total counting colour variants, I couldn't bear a ninth. Not to mention the idea of a fully feathered Rex is probably far fetched and holds gimmick value at best. I'd much rather Papo focused on hiring a new marine creature sculptor to remake the bad Plesiosaur and Tylosaur.

Well, you're pretty outnumbered in that flat. Some of us want a tyrannosaur pack. Plus, I think it's great to update inaccurate figures. Their yearly repaints are annoying, though.
Also, far fetched? Paleontological evidence, our knowledge of the dinosaur family tree, and relatives of it say otherwise.

Well, I'd like:

Safari:

Camarasaurus
Centrosaurus
Daspletosaurus
Hatzegopteryx
Pterosaur Toob
Some form of icthyosaur
Dakotaraptor
Zalmoxes
Mononykus
Augustinia

Papo:
Feathered T-Rex
Megalosaurus
Iguanodon
Huayangosaurus

CollectA:

Huh.
Apatosaurus
Dunkleosteus
Megaraptor
Chasmosaurus
I don't know besides that.

Favorite:

Good maniraptorans.

PNSO:

Don't care much about them.

Rebor:
I can't afford anything from them, they're immature, rude, and overall liars, thus I don't care.

RECUR:
Anything they make is going to be low-detail, inaccurate, and huge, thus I don't care.

So basically:
Safari:everything
Papo:some stuff they'd do well
CollectA: not really sure, maybe this stuff.
Favorite: maniraptorans.
PNSO, Rebor, RECUR: don't care.

Here are my predictions.  :)

Safari:  Continued reboot of older figures and a few new ones.  The 2017s are selling like hot cakes, so I think we can expect another large batch for next year.  Quality will be fantastic, but occasional production errors will continue.
- Styracosaurus
- Stegosaurus
- Allosaurus
- Pteranodon
- Sarcosuchus
- Saichania
- Plateosaurus
- Anzu
- Herrerasaurus
- Gorgosaurus

CollectA:  They'll keep up the more or less obscure figures, some Deluxes that aren't the scale they say they are, and have another new tube.  I doubt there'll be another Supreme figure.  Quality will be overall excellent, but with one or two near misses.
- Deluxe Brontosaurus (which will be too small for 1:40)
- Deluxe Allosaurus
- Deluxe Olorotitan
- Dakotaraptor
- Elasmotherium
- Pinacosaurus
- Metriorhynchus
- new Ouranosaurus
- Pterodaustro
- Machairoceratops
- Small Dinosaur Tube: Thescelosaurus, Protoceratops, Shuvuuia, Prenocephale, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Kulindadromeus, Troodon, Heterodontosaurus

Papo:  Slight reduction in quantity, one new repaint.  Quality same as always, good detail but so-so accuracy.
- Iguanodon
- Quetzalcoatlus
- Megalosaurus
- Mammoth
- Repainted Pteranodon

Schleich:  They'll try...
- Apatosaurus (very retro)
- Mosasaurus (JW inspired)
- Allosaurus (awkwardly awesomebro) Oviraptor (plucked chicken)
- Pachycephalosaurus (dragonesque)
- some overly expensive play set with a little generic raptor figure

Bullyland:  *cricket noises*

Mojo:  They're getting better, but output will be low
- new Brachiosaurus
- new Stegosaurus

Rebor:  *shrug*

PNSO:  Release of a few of those teased figure, especially the Amargasaurus and Yangchuanosaurus.  If we're lucky, some new minis including Yi qi, a few pterosaurs, Sinosauropteryx, Caudipteryx, etc.  I'd love some vinyl 1:1 feathered dinos...

Recur:  I think they're going to take a break.

Favorite:  *shrink wrapping intensifies* Honestly not sure.

Kaiyodo or Colorata:  Really hoping for a set of primitive dinosaurs, not sure which brand is most likely.

Okay, I think that covers all of them!  ^-^

Schleich released an (awful) Allosaurus this year, but I'm kind of intrigued by a JW inspired Mosasaurus and a dragonesque Pachycephalosaurus. Also a resculpted mammoth from Papo would be interesting, though I think it's unlikely given they have already done two.

You're totally right, that Allo was so horrible I must have repressed my memory of it!  :))  Okay, so how about an Oviraptor instead, I don't think they've got one of those yet.

As for the mammoth, well, I figured it'd go nice with new Smilodon and such.  Maybe in a similar "action pose".

Collecta:
Deluxe Argentinosaurus (doesn't have to be 1:40, just reasonably large)
Deluxe Shonisaurus
Deluxe Megatherium
Nanuqsaurus
Revised versions of various figures released before 2011
Quote from: ZoPteryx on April 18, 2017, 05:55:13 AM
- Small Dinosaur Tube: Thescelosaurus, Protoceratops, Shuvuuia, Prenocephale, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Kulindadromeus, Troodon, Heterodontosaurus
I agree, I would also include Mononykus

Safari Ltd:
Revised Camarasaurus
Revised Dilong
Revised Saltasaurus
Revised Tanystropheus
Dakotaraptor
Nothosaurus
Anzu

Papo:
Iguanodon
About it for Papo...

Other companies: I don't have strong demands from them.

I've changed my list a bit.

Safari: Accuracy and quality will be high, just minor paint mishaps here and there. They've also decided to scale up a bit.

Camarasaurus(reboot)
Spinosaurus(reboot)
Tanystropheus(reboot)
Triceratops(reboot)
Allosaurus(reboot)
Stegosaurus(reboot)
Sinornithosaurus
Mononykus
Tsintsaosaurus
Majungasaurus
Pachycephalosaurus
Also, a new ceratopsian: regaliceratops.

CollectA: Stayed more or less the same

Standard Moeritherium
Small dinosaurs tube
And I don't know besides that.

Papo: gone up in accuracy
Feathered T-Rex
Giganotosaurus
Iguanodon
Uh.. don't know besides those.

Mojo: a bit better
Not sure

Rebor:same
Overpriced awesome or stuff they claim is accurate and when someone questions its accuracy, they'll go nuts and threaten to sue.

RECUR:same
Don't care.

PNSO:same
Yangchuansaurus, huayangosaurus, amargosaurus

Favorite: same
Perhaps a carnotaurus and apatosaurus

And, the worst of all, Schleich: haven't improved, still claim to be accurate

This are my hopes and dreams for next year

Safari: Dakotaraptor (any other dromeosaur would be great too), Maisaura, Triceratops, Baryonix, Allosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Edmontonia, Majungasaurus. The perfect thing for me would be two ceratopsians but thats wishfull thinking.

CollectA: Daspletosaurus (or any other feathered large tyrannosaur), Yi, Saltasaurus (I like some of their smaller sauropods, like Ampelosaurus so I think they can make a good Saltasaurus), Machairoceratops, Spiclypeus, any dromeosaur aaand more interesting toobs, the one of small dinos that has been suggested sounds great!

Papo: Carcharodontosaurus (they were supposed to release a Giganotosaurus but I would like more a Carcha), any ceratopsian, Concavenator, and the rumored figures for this year :Iguanodon and Giganotosaurus.

Favorite Co.: my wish for them it's anything but don't make it exclusive or a pain in the wallet to get  ;D :P. In all seriousness I like their ornithopods so more of those. Also their Ankylosaurus is lovely so more of it's kind too.

Pnso: release the beauties that we have seen lately!, and my biggest wish for them it's to comeback to Amazon.com or been more avialable from other online stores in the U.S.

I'd love a Papo mammoth in a dynamic pose, the original one wasn't that great, while the current version is quite static and probably one of the worst figures of their prehistoric line.

It's actually strange that Schleich never produced an Oviraptor, they usually go with well known genera and Oviraptor seems to be popular enough. I have a feeling it would turn out terrible though, with a feathering similar to their new Utahraptor.

Yeah, probably.  Yet another plucked chicken for the line...

Daspletodave

Safari will reboot many of the old Carnegie figures, such as Apatosaurus, Allosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Carnotaurus, Elasmosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus. They'll also do some new species (but will stick with well-known dinos, not obscure species that nobody cares about) such as Protoceratops, Troodon, maybe another ceratopsian, and at least one smaller dino like a Heterodontosaurus or Hypsilophodon.

For Favorite, I hope they finally do an Iguanodon, Carnotaurus, or Dilophosaurus.

I do Papo dioramas so it would be really weird seeing a feathered Rex amongst the JP models.  :))

Does anyone else have any suggestions for Sideshow? It seems to have been overlooked.

I sincerely understand Recur's criticisms, but I do not share them considerably because I have just bought figures from that company.

Of course you can not compare with Favorite, Kaiyodo or the omnipresent and overpowering PNSO. But his figures from my point of view do not seem to me bad from the educational point of view in the sense that as they say they are destined for children and I, being a collector, like them the most.

The ankylosaurus Recur this year is not bad, as far as inaccuracies I understand that Schleich except honorable exceptions is unfortunately carried the palm.

On the other hand, the material of Recur is safe against abrasions, blows and most important is ideal for the little ones to avoid not only accidents by asphyxiation but also to avoid physical accidents when beating said figures with the head. I understand that the toy dinosaur forum has so much criticism of Recur but honestly the treatment that these entrepreneurs give their buyers (among whom I am) is praiseworthy and plausible. You can even address them in your language nor do they even require you English and I do not think bad company. I hope that in the future maybe next year they will make dinosaurs and dark prehistoric animals. I would not mind having dark prehistoric mammals such as uintatherium, basilosaurus or anancus or dinosaurs such as masiakasaurus, incisivosaurus, regaliceratops or gigantspinosaurus for example.

As for their behavior in the forum the few times they have been involved has been correct and friendly. I'm not a fan of Recur (I do buy his figures) but you have to recognize that his figures are safe for children and even for me as a collector I am enthusiastic.
