No Dinosaur Diorama Contest in 2017

Is this year a contest year? I have not found here any information. If till now no diorama contest is in prep, will I be the only one, who miss this?

Neosodon

Will it be September this year? I missed it last year because I didn't realize they were doing it earlier than usual.

"3,000 km to the south, the massive comet crashes into Earth. The light from the impact fades in silence. Then the shock waves arrive. Next comes the blast front. Finally a rain of molten rock starts to fall out of the darkening sky - this is the end of the age of the dinosaurs. The Comet struck the Gulf of Mexico with the force of 10 billion Hiroshima bombs. And with the catastrophic climate changes that followed 65% of all life died out. It took millions of years for the earth to recover but when it did the giant dinosaurs were gone - never to return." - WWD

It was early last year because I had personal obligations that would have made it difficult to receive entries during September, so that shouldn't be happening again.

No word yet on plans this year, but if needed I'd be willing to help out again. I solved the unfortunate technical issues from last time (files got deleted when I tried to compress the containing folder and I had to track them down again [and it took me far to long to realize that's what had happened]). :-[

If there are similar issues to the ones Dr Admin was facing last year, perhaps this year we could create a prize pool?

Killekor

If this year there's a Diorama contest, i hope that the sponsr of the contest will be Safari, or Creative beast (in this case the prize will be some BotM Raptors)

I'd like to run the contest in 2017 but I'm at full capacity with work and life. I'll probably go ahead with it, but maybe later in the year and without prizes...

suspsy

Perhaps stargatedalek or some other devoted individual will be willing to run it. Don't look at me; I've got enough on my plate this year already.

I have time to do it but not the talent.  :-[

I've decided, reluctantly, not to run the contest this year. Sorry. Next year will come around quickly!

Megalosaurus

Thanks Dr. Adam.

Then I propose you guys that we run it just for fun.

If someone is willing to take on that responsibility, I'd allow it, but I won't have the capacity to offer any support.

Is the contest poll the same kind as creating a new poll thread? And then adding as many voting options as there are entries? If so I'd be happy to do that and collect the entries and upload them all with the same file size. I may be able to supply a prize as well. And the YouTube video  :)

Well I guess there´s a little more to it than this.
You have to sight and sum up the contributions, form a jury, adapt the size of the pictures, seek a potential sponsor, judge on the quality of the contributions and then present the winners...

BlueKrono

And send them all pretty blue ribbons. And not the cheap ones, the nice ones.

I thought the fine members of this distinguished forum were the Judge and Jury lol. Also a sponsor isn't required.

Kayakasaurus is correct, it's the public who decides the winners.
