I finaly got the 1964-1965 World's Fair Sinclair set of 6 Dinosaurs :

Many are familiar with the mold-a-rama sinclairs - which are larger and hollow - and, for me, of little interest for collecting or displaying.

These, on the other hand, are much suited for any display along with the other American brands ( Marx, MPC, ROM, etc. ).
Although much similar to those other sets - There is something unique and misterious in their blank expression looking ahead.

I especially like the curves along this Brontosaurus' ( Apatosaurus ) body.

Regretably - they are the rarest on the list - On any given moment you could rarely find one available set on Ebay.
I think there is ONE now - but I always try to avoid GREEN ... :)

With this set, I think I concluded most of my MONOCHROME dino companies search.

Of all dinos, Brontosaurus ( i.e. Apa. ) has always been my favorite -
Here's my Monochrome Brontosaurus/Diplodocus  ( each compny had chosen one of the two to display ) :

Invicta , DDR Kleinwelka, Miller, ROM , Sinclair, Marx, Tootsie, Timpo, MPC and a small Steg as a place holder for my Ajax ...

I think some references are in order :

- Sinclair Oil Collectable Dinosaurs from the dinosaur collector site.
- Toy soldier comparison between Sinclair and other brand - near the bottom of the page .
- How SRG used those molds for the AMNH article in the dinosaur-toys-collectors-guide .
- Doug Watson's collection describing his collection of1964-1965 World's Fair Sinclair here on DTF.

My congratulations avatar_BrontoScorpio @BrontoScorpio for your new acquisitions. Those monochrome dinosaurs are worth their weight in gold. In fact, except for Invicta, I never heard of another company that made massive dinosaurs in the dark years for which we were fans of paleontology.

I'm excited to see so many monochrome dinosaurs from different dinosaur brands apart from the idolized Invicta.

I am drooling over your monochrome collection! It is hard to me to look at the pictures, but I am happy you have such a variety!Congratulations on those, I wish I could afford one or two of them.  To add to your monochrome sauropod herd,  I highly recommend VEB Plaho,  which are from the GDR,  like the Kleinwelkas:

Thanks Libraraptor,
drooling over was the desirable effect I was hoping to achieve ... :)

As for your suggested dinos - They are indeed nice looking and unique with the word 'Vintage' written all over.
I would have loved to own those.
For some reason, I had the notion these usually go by the name as Marolin dinos.
But, I guess I'm no match for you as far as German dinos are concern.

In general, I try to limit the obscurity of the figures that I collect so when they are presented together it won't come out as too 'Toyish' or Kindergarden like.

I have some more, which could be regarded as "Monochrome" : Linde, Nabisco, Diener and Timmee - Here on display by various kinds of the Ankylosaurs Family -
but, since they are somewhat too small ,'rubbery' or 'marbled' to be displayed with the previous lot - I have not included them.

Hi Shonisaurus,
I wouldn't exagurate as to call it "worth their weight in gold"  and it also puzzle me how you never heard of those after being a collector for so long.

If you want to learn about old dinosaur companies - This Distributors and Companies is a good place to start with :
Especially the two folowing links :
- High Quality Museum Lines   .

- Collectables 1933 – 1980 .

You also have a great list introduction, with a section where you can buy some of them :
At the figurenschnapp site.

Libraraptor

Well, VEB Plaho and Marolin means the same Company. They have got an interesting history in the German Democratic Republic.
Talking About monochrome dinosaurs, do you already own Basel Tsintaosaurus?

BrontoScorpio

Yes, I've got my  Basel Tsintaosaurus from you .. :)It has taken up a place of significance on the designated shelf, along with my other Monochromes.

Saw these on UK's thread and decided to order one or two, even though I try to limit the number of imaginary animals in my collection -

After all - The Crystal Palace Dinosaurs certainly have their place of honour in the Dinosaur science history.

so, These can surely pass as a legitimic 'Vintage' Dinosaur :) .

I order the one still available.

To my unpleasent surprise, apparently, only the first wave was a Resin model -
now it is PVC with Metal ( Tin ? ) legs :

Metal legs ??? - what the Heck ???
It is a dissappointment - as I like Resin so much.
Now it could never pass on as Monochrome and I wonder even if colouring could blur the difference.
Seller admitted he forgot to alter description and photoes :

paintingdinos

The metal is almost assuredly pewter. Pewter cast minis (including mixed pieces like this one) are very common, especially for models intended for tabletop gaming (pewter is cheaper while still being very high detail... it's also more flexible and less prone to damage when handling during game play).

One coat of primer will easily hide the difference in materials.

They should definitely update the description for clarity. It's confusing to get mixed when expecting one material.

Thanks.
Pewter indeed was the word I was looking for - I have no such word in my language -
but, it does seem to be mainly Tin and some copper.
on the other hand - it is rather heavy - I think the legs weigh several times more than the body -
so, I hope there isn't any lead inside ( being somewhat poisonous etc. ).
Tried several kinds of glue, finaly found something - But I won't test it for strength ...

This is the outcome :

Looks somewhat Bionic, like a Cyborg of a sort  :)

RobinGoodfellow

..at least the figure would need a coat of primer..

BrontoScorpio

Yes, either that or the garbage bin ( more likely ... ).

..no, why?  :-\
I like so much Antediluvian Miniatures.  8)
They just need some good paint app to shine..
Maybe Martin Garratt' touch ?  ;)

As it happens - by chance I have just recently got some more Fiction/Non-Dinosaurs Resin model kits -
This time there were no bad surprises waiting :

fewture models devilman resin kit 1/6 scale sculpt by yuji Oniki.
This kit is renowned for being difficult to paint :

The Prehistoric looking Pirarucu ( Arapaima )  of Trims Japan by Shinya Akao (HEADLONG) :

This is a massive figure, with the main body over half a kilo of pure Resin :

When fully painted - It is a marvelous statue to look at :

Kaiyodo AquaTales polystone giant squid Special eddition for the Deep-sea Exhibition :

It is not among the regular Kaiyodo AquaTales :

But is clearly of the same line.
Here, with some of it's friends :

And here, with a bigger version - The Favorite female Giant squid :

Last, but definately not least -

I was surprised to stumble upon such a rare item :
The Scratch model collection AFTER MAN 'Night Stalker' :

This collection was made following the fantastic book 'After Man: A Zoology of the Future' by Dougal Dixon.
I remember reading it and thinking to myself : "why didn't I thought about that ? ! ".
Anyway, several caracters from the book were materialized as kits - I think the 'Night Stalker' is the most impressive :

And just so I won't be considered as too weird for this Forum :
From now and than I can also present one of the 'Regular' Dinos.
Although Don't see much point in presenting them here - as the Forum is full with their pictures - but here goes :

Just Yesterday got my package from Aliexpress :
The Amargasaurus is, of course, lovely. A bit smaller than I expected and also somewhat 'skiny' and famished looking -

as it wouldn't heart to put a bit more muscle and meat on it's body.
Just my opinion ...

Shonisaurus

I congratulate you on your new acquisitions BrontoScorpio. I'm glad you have the PNSO amargasaurus on your shelves already. I'm glad you did not have any unpleasant surprises about your resin kits. I follow your thread every day, I like it a lot.

Dinomike

That Amargasaurus looks stunning! You are lucky to own it!

Thanks.
Sadly, The only comments I got are for the 'banial' Amargasaurus.
Maybe I'm just getting too old for this forum...  ;)
To Meet the feelings of the general public - The Amargasaurus got it's place on the Chinese dino shelf :

UK

Wonderful Chinese shelf there Mr Scorpio.

One more from AliExpress for the Chinese shelf :
Wan Long Tang (W-Dragon) Allosaurus Repaint ( Tiger Grain coloration ).

I would have said, though, that the colors are much duller than those of the Stock figure.
Am I right - what do you think ? :

Hey avatar_BrontoScorpio @BrontoScorpio a late congratulations on the Sinclair Dinos. I have to admit I miss a lot on this forum there is so much to keep up with. I too love the old monochromes and I have to say I refer your darker tones to my brighter ones.
