Ostracods (small crustaceans) fossilize well and often in tidy layers, and differ in their degree of sexual dimorphism. This study looked at their fossil record and found that the species with higher degrees of sexual dimorphism, usually a consequence of sexual selection, raises the probability of extinction. It's a cool dataset.
