For those of you like me who enjoyed Transformers: Beast Wars back in the day, Takara has unveiled their upcoming Masterpiece Megatron figure. Clearly not a very accurate T. rex as you can see, but an awesome one. Yesssssssssss.  ;D

Wicked!  :D
I never had cable so never got a chance to watch it constantly but I used to watch that show at a friend's house when I'd pet sit his cat. It took me way too long to understand it was "Dinobot" as in "robot" and not "Dino-Butt".  ::)

Shadowknight1

Holy cow, he progressed MUCH faster than ol' Chopper Face did!  Maybe because Dinobot has a lot more shifting and collapsing bits to him compared to Megatron.  Still.  I'm a dino lover and a Transformers lover.  Not sure I can pass on him.  Definitely already have Dinobot pre-ordered.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

That's a statue right? It looks nice for sure. I remember when I had the toy of this one way back in the day (when I was like 5 or 6), and watched the show plenty then too.

Edit: Oh hey, I just made my 1000 post here. I'm glad I got it when I posted about something nostalgic at least.  :))

It's not a statue, nooo.  It's a fully articulated transformable figure of the Predacon leader, yess!

Okay that's like a 1000 times better if it has articulation and can transform (in my case). So in a way this is like a really cool remake of that old toy then? I have to wonder how much this is going to go for, and where to get it when its released (Big Bad Toy Store maybe?).

BBTS will likely get it in stock. No word on price, but count on it being hefty. Really hefty.

Dinobot is $249.99 on BigBadToyStore.  I would imagine that Megs will be around 275 at a minimum, but probably more.

avatar_Shadowknight1 @Shadowknight1: do share your impressions of Dinobot once you get him.  Based on available pics, I love the sleek bot mode but the "raptor" mode leaves much to be desired.

Ah Megatron... I loved the character from the series (Black Arachnia: "Why do you always talk to yourself?"  Megatron:  "I simply have a penchant for intelligent conversation.") though I'm not a fan of the color scheme or the "lazy" transformation.  This however, is a great transition from onscreen character to toy form... and I'm really tempted to.... oh wait... nearly $300?  nevermind....

More pics, including beast mode and extras.

Parts of his kibble are removable, so one can recreate that scene:

Sadly no Rubber Duck.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

suspsy

Wow. That is so damned beautiful. I'd love to nab one . . . but $250-$300 is damned huge. Could buy a lot of dinosaurs with that same amount.

It's an unfortunate side effect of the Masterpiece line.  They do their darndest to make them as accurate to the source as possible as well as keep the series in scale, ie. Dinobot, Primal, Cheetor, and Megs will all be in scale.

'Have to agree.  I skipped a lot of new transformers and zoids to get new dinos.

As for the missing rubber duck, (for better or worse) reissues of the MP line tend to have some bits extra added.  Who knows, a future wave could have duckie as an added accessory.

Shadowknight1

Well, being a huge fan of Dinobot, I couldn't skip him, so I'll let you guys know if he's worth the price or if he falls apart out of the box.

Welp, he's up for pre-order on BigBadToyStore and...woo.  Umm...yeah.  While Dinobot was pretty pricey at about $250...Megs is downright obscene at a whopping $330.  They do say that pricing isn't final, but that's just insane.  I love the big purple T. rex, but I don't know that I'd throw down that much for him.

Here's a series of official images. Gods, what a fantastic-looking piece. Too bad I'll never be able to afford it. :(

I guess the cracked-egg look of the dino-mode can't be avoided - since those are all folding parts.  Not complaining though, that's one awesome looking figure.  But that price tag is too steep for me.

Not sure how I feel about all of his panels being removable.  I guess it fits with the show, but makes me feel like he's a shell-parts-former ala Bigconvoy.
