Bandai produces prehistoric figures? I don't wanna know anything else, if they're half as good as their Transformers or Saint Seiya stuff I could easily fall in love.

Honestly, they're mostly not that great. I doubt you'd be too enamored.

Now I'm curious, where I can find pictures? I checked the TAI but there are no Bandai prehistorics.

Just search up "bandai dinosaurs" on your preferred search engine, it's really not that hard.

Funny and informative review of an overlooked figure indeed, thanks.

laticauda

This was a grueling figure to review.  In fact I almost didn't write it.  Once I finished the review I had to do some serious editing.  I deleted at least three pages of material from the review.  I took out a lot of the hair product jokes that ranged from He-man - to 80's hairbands.  It does look a bit like Nigel Tufnel from spinal Tap, don't you think.

or maybe White Goodman from dodgeball

Lanthanotus

I vote for Ben Stiller aka White Goodman..... in German the movie fittingly titles "Voll auf die Nüsse" ("Full on the nuts" - well it's hard to translate accordingly I think... something about a hit to the family jewels... I guess you get it :D)

Well spotted - perfect match with the Spinal Tap pic! Great laught to start the day. I really can't get behind this figure. it's just too...out there, and will not be joining the other Saber Tooths that I have on the shelf.

I was thinking Scar from the Lion King  :))

Oh, I think this image of Scar is perfect. I should definitely pick it up and call it like that!

That was my thought as well, if he got some novelty dentures.

Scar!  It is such a perfect fit and it never crossed my mind.

Two not new reviews by Libraraptor, but with updated images thanks to Philsauria. So, perhaps worth a revisit?

Don't know how the old pictures for the Apatosaurus were, but these look great. That model is one of Schleich's best ever, I think.

As of right now DeJankins has 8 of these apatosaurus new for $36 each.  You probably won't find a better price for it.

He has a lot of retired Schleichs, some of them like this Apatosaurus, the Brachiosaurus, the Allosaurus and the Parasaurolophus aren't bad at all. All of them far superior to more recent versions.

PhilSauria

Agreed Reptilia, I have all of the figures you mentioned and not only are they bigger they are more detailed and have more naturalistic colour schemes. The 'updated' Parasaur looks like some sort of iced confection with the colours it now sports! That animal would have to be one of the most bootlegged (or whatever term you prefer) on the Asian sites, there's even one that is painted in the markings of the Papo version.

There were several different series, mostly smallish figures, and not terribly noteworthy. Dinosaur Collector has some of them but his pictures are pretty small. http://www.dinosaurcollectorsitea.com/Japan.html (scroll down to Bandai). He doesn't seem to have the series that the Quetzalcoatlus is from, but that was an interesting series because it included possibly the first Afrovenator figure. They also did some Animal Kaiser figures, some of which were prehistoric (mammoth, sabertooth, Archaeopteryx, Dunkleosteus). Honestly I think the best photos of many of Bandai's prehistorics will be on eBay.

Thanks Halichoeres. Agree, they don't seem that great after all.
