triceratops83

Quote from: Elengassen on October 22, 2024, 08:15:50 PMI bought it from Marco Makes's Etsy shop. Unfortunately he only releases them in limited batches and they usually sell out pretty quickly. I don't know if it will ever be re-released again, but I'd say your best shot is to follow him on social media or YouTube as he will announce it there.

It says on the product page that it's made of resin. It feels like a light, brittle material similar to Shapeways prints (or Tamiya kits, if that helps).

Ah thanks! It's a pity we didn't get actual merchandise from Prehistoric Planet. That would have sold like hotcakes.

In the end it was not guns or bombs that defeated the aliens, but that humblest of all God's creatures... the Tyrannosaurus rex.

crazy8wizard

I recall some of the people involved saying they might be interested but that's about it. Even merchandise in the form of an official book would be excellent.

Was absolutely perplexed at the lack of merch as well. Especially since Darren is well versed in the model collecting scene.

EmperorDinobot

Maybe they will do it for season 2? Give some retailer the exclusivity or something. I have yet to watch it.

Elengassen

A Prehistoric Planet toyline by PNSO or Haolonggood would be a dream come true for collectors. Failing that, they could partner with a UK-based company like CollectA or Rebor, who I imagine would also do a great job.

Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. Prehistoric- and dinosaur-related merchandising seems to be a thing of the past when it comes to any franchise that's not Jurassic World. Even that mediocre-looking '65' film didn't have an official toyline.

Naish was just a scientific consultant AFAIK. I don't think he would have had any influence over that.
One day we will know the truth about Spinosaurus... but not today.

Sim

I feel like Prehistoric Planet being an Apple-exclusive series might be what led to no toyline being made for it.  I think  Walking With Dinosaurs 2025 might be mainstream enough to get a toy series.

It is a shame that these days one has to pay for TV shows like this. I remember "Dinosaurs!" on free TV in 1994. Had I not stumbled over this great series, I would be a much less excited member of the paleo-people today - if at all. It carried me through times with little paleo-input.

It is not too costly per se, I am not poor. It´s just disgusting how people make profit from people´s fundamental right to education and information. But where to start in this discussion? So, let´s better get back to topic.

Roselaar

Lovely new finds of today! The Poposaurus may be one of the best and most daring species Mattel has ever done.

AcroSauroTaurus

A few recent additions.
PNSO Yangchuanosaurus

PNSO Alamosaurus

JW Epic Evolution Craterosaurus
I am the Dinosaur King!

Received the Tyrannosaur from the Chris Reeve Dinosaur Documentary and Tippet's Prehistoric Beast! Just need to clean and paint him up.

Sim

I've obtained the following:

1. Kaiyodo Eusthenopteron.  It's a strikingly good figure!  Very fragile though.

2. Colorata feathered dinosaurs box.  I like most of the figures in this set, just the Microraptor and Sinosauropteryx are a little wonky.

3. The Colorata dinosaurs box with Protoceratops in it.  I got this just for the Protoceratops, which is a nice figure.

4. Kaiyodo Futabasaurus.  It's a nice figure, but its head isn't as detailed as I would like, so it's going in my sales thread.

5. Kaiyodo Capsule Q Quetzalcoatlus. This figure I also won't be keeping.  It just didn't end up satisfying me.  I considered getting another Quetzalcoatlus figure, a bigger one than the Kaiyodo but I just don't like any.

6. CollectA Brontosaurus.  I finally got it and I love it!

7. Papo Apatosaurus.  I used to dislike this figure, but how I feel about it has completely changed!  I love it now!  So much!  It replaces the Haolonggood Apatosaurus in my collection, which is another nice figure, but I prefer the more form-fitting head and tail end on the Papo Apatosaurus.  Also, the Papo figure scales better with my Eofauna Diplodocus, I estimate the Papo is 1:40 scale like the Eofauna.  The Papo is still huge, it's the perfect size for me.  The Papo Apatosaurus is the Apatosaurus for me.  I'm satisfied with it. :)

October acquisitions. Save for Njor and that little Safari Arsinoitherium (filed under Safari figures I forgot existed), it was another Mattel heavy month thanks to Target Circles Week and early holiday shopping deals. Feels like it starts earlier and earlier each year  :o

EmperorDinobot

Very good stuff!
The Target Circle stuff comes and goes for me. One day they'll be there, and the next, poof, the sale ends. Then they return the day after.
It is how I got the T.rex with the jeep, but I'm not opening that for two more days.

CityRaptor

Some interesting finds at TK Maxx...

I was rather surprised to see Nedry in a store. Sure, Germany got the previous two Nedrys, but there was no sign of this one.
Blue is available online, but this one was much cheaper.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Elengassen

I've been after this one for a while. It might not be the most accurate reconstruction, but it's the best (PVC) option available in the 1:35 scale range, and a good-looking figure.

Also got these 2 courtesy of avatar_Sim @Sim – thanks again!

Libraraptor

Wow, these are all such valuable models and figures and contributions. This thread is a perennial favorite!

PrimevalRaptor

Thanks to that tip from avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor I also picked up the HC Blue (funnily enough my first Blue figure)
The articulation is really good (I'm amazed at the balancing without any tripod postures needed) and that eye is...well it's a cool idea but a pain to photograph lol

They also had Dimetrodon and Lophostropheus, two of each, and both Lophostropheus' had qc issues. One's lower jaw was tapered off incorrectly, giving it a massive overbite, and the other one had mismatched eyes. Oh, also, for my somewhat modest b-day, I got a stretchy shirt, 7 Pokemon Mega Construx Pokeball sets, and the Target Exclusive T.rex and jeep done in s2 colors. I can't open that yet because I don't know where to put all the '93 and reimagined stuff. And of course, the BOTM Dilophosaurus, which hasn't arrived yet.
The Jakapil and Dsungaripterus would not ring up at Fred Meyer, so the lady decided to scan a Cheetos Puff bag a few times, and the puffs were buy 1 get 1 free, and basically gave me one of the two for free. God bless.
