If you had the chance to meet a dinosaur, which one would you choose?

I'm a bit surprised to know that some of us would choose something small or quite small (Yi qi, Tullimonstrum, pachycephalosaur)

I've already met something bigger

It didn't end well

Gwangi

I'm not really worried about the potential danger in this fictional scenario.  :P

ITdactyl

Was that how the show was supposed to end?  A pair of Rexes attack and everyone goes home?
(Also, thanks for sharing that avatar_IrritatorRaji @IrritatorRaji

Oh wait... OT.

Any species of condor or crane (been 3 decades since I've seen those) and any species of sheldgeese and screamers (haven't seen these in life).
Oh, we meant extinct right?  Then it'd be any stegosaur or diplodocid.  Plus any azhdarchid because I'm nuts for those (even if we're not asking about pterosaurs) ;D

Premise behind the show was that we went back in time 67 million years ago to a science base that had perfected time travel, the base was underground but at the very top was a viewing dome. At the end of the tour, everyone went to go view the dinosaurs, Rex's got hungry and smashed the glass, shutters went down and the room went dark, then everyone was rushed back underground to the time machine :P It looks silly in gif format, but the sound effects of the dinosaurs and glass smashing was very realistic, pair that with the screams of a view nervous people and it made for a very tense situation

Oh idea! How about meeting an austrolopithicus? I could imagine how little we changed from austrolopithicenes to YouTube comment sections  :))
If you wonder where I'm active now, you can find me here- http://www.lustria-online.com/members/lizerd.17772/
It's been a good run here

Nice Topic! Don't even have to think about this one, Archaeopteryx!
Ground dwelling animal? Gliding abilities? Fluttering abilities? How did it use its feathered limbs and tail for maneuverability?
I would also like to visit the often described quiet and calm marine conditions of the Solnhofen lagoonal environment.

Honestly I would like to run into an edmontosaurus in relation to dinosaurs.

As for non-dinosaurs, I would like to meet a paraceratherium.

Albertadromeus, since we already pretty much know what Psittacosaurus looks like.

Cretaceous Crab

My answer to this question would rely largely on the following factors:
- my distance from the dinosaur
- the existence of a sturdy & integritous barrier between the dino and myself
- my general health & physical stamina
- the type of weapon on my person (if at all)

Assuming that this scenario consists of a single animal (not multiple ones), and I was merely a casual observer impervious to injury or interaction, it would still be a hard choice. I would generally be very satisfied to see any large/giant dinosaur of the Saurischian clade, since we have few points of reference of megafauna today, especially carnivores. A respectable sized sauropod would be a majestic sight for any, but to witness a giant bipedal predator would be humbling as well. I suppose I would have to resort to one of my favorites, good ole' Spinosaurus. Such a unique genus already, and we still don't have all the pieces of the puzzle, in regards to its appearance & ecology.

I wouldn't mind going back further into the Permian to see a Dimetrodon as well.

Sincerely I would prefer to meet with a small and peaceful herbivore, a microceratops for example, for reasons of personal security it gives me the impression that it was not the most troublesome dinosaurs although you should be careful with its beak, because it could bite you and tear your arm in signal defense. But obviously at a distance it would not be a conflicting dinosaur.

Libraraptor

Europasaurus. Iguanodon. Therizinosaurus.

Honestly I would also like to know an archeopteryx, for one simple reason it is a key feathered dinosaur in evolution and it is for me a fascinating dinosaur from the point of view of paleontology.

Melanite

I would be tempted to choose to see something unusual that has yet to be discovered, or that was never lucky enough to be fossilized. But, if I could only pick one specific species, I would want to meet Sue the T. rex herself. I remember reading about her discovery when I was a kid, and getting to visit her a few years back was like meeting my celebrity idol. To see her in the flesh would be a dream.

Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

Shonisaurus

It would be interesting to find a herd of hysilophodon, I suppose they were quite gentle herbivorous dinosaurs, I say this because of the skeletal remains.

I would like to meet a struthiomimus is a pretty funny dinosaur or a mei long is a dinosaur that would serve as a pet.
