Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

The filter definitely isn't supposed to look like that. I was working on a slightly larger screen and didn't catch this issue. I already have an idea to improve the filter's usability  ????

Quote from: Faelrin on June 10, 2025, 07:44:10 PMEdit: I've also noticed a bug of sorts. I cannot simultaneously select an animal's group tag with a company tag. Selecting one or the other will reset the other tag. For example trying to narrow down PNSO's selection to Dinosauria - Sauropodomorpha will clear the PNSO tag, and vice versa.

Edit 2: Okay so I've noticed if I click the checkbox it works as intended, but if I click the name, which is easier to do, being closer to the middle of the screen, it causes the above issue.

Great catch!  ::D I'm aware of this behavior. While developing, I wasn't sure whether I should keep it that way or change it (bug or feature...?). But if your first instinct is that it should work by clicking the name as well (not just the checkbox) then that's all the confirmation I need. I'll change it!

Allright: small filter update just went live!

Checkboxes are gone, but the full functionality remains. The layout was slightly improved and empty options were removed for clarity.

Let me know if it feels smoother for you now! avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin

avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector When adding the new PNSO Guizhouichthyosaurus in the database editor, I was not able to add images to it. I was getting an "upload folder doesn't exist error". I was trying to add these two images:

Quick update following the dinotoyblog discussion — I've implemented a few changes based on that feedback! (actually it was a popular request over the years)

You can now leave half-star ratings for more precise reviews (yes, 0.5 is finally a thing if you are that unhappy!)

Backend was optimized — if something feels off with login, please clear your browser cache

Also removed some caching issues and even more German words sneaked out (not all though 😉)

Have fun with the improved rating system and thanks for the ongoing feedback!

Haha now I have to think of some figures I dislike so intensely that they deserve 0.5 stars, just because I can.

I've been using dinotoycollector.com for only a short time but I already find it super useful and ergonomic !
The implementation of the new scoring system that allows to rate the figures more precisely with half stars is also greatly appreciated.
Quick question, as I'm creating a wishlist related to my Gobi collection : does anyone know if there are any Saurolophus entries ?^^
I maybe didn't search the species in the right way, but couldn't find any figures of it.

Faelrin

avatar_Protopatch @Protopatch You can see them in the Dinosauria - Ornithopoda group tag, but using Saurolophus by itself oddly shows nothing. A weird bug perhaps.

There are no "bad figures" in the absolute, in my opinion.
Only figures that don't match our expectations.

It's more a matter of subjective appreciation here.

A few days ago I clicked on the tag for a genus, I can't remember which one, and it showed no results.

Welcome and... Oh... I have to fix this then. There are a lot of entries missing  ???? Seems to be an Species issue only.

I also did this today:
Suggest Changes or Add Missing Products!

A comprehensive suggestion system is now live! If you notice missing products or incorrect details, you can easily suggest changes or new items. We'll review your suggestions and approve them after checking.

The system works smoothly in the background, so submitting suggestions won't take much effort on your side.

I will come back when I have fixed the issue with Saurolophus... and all the others mssing

EDIT: done - all species should appear again !

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin thanks for the temporary tip ;)
avatar_DinoToyCollector @DinoToyCollector great, many thanks for having fixed it !

avatar_Stegotyranno420 @Stegotyranno420 look, Schleich's Moros has its own (intrepid) charm, something Herring-like ::D
I'm pretty sure that kids love it, even more than Papo's Suchomimus lol
Every single figure should have its bunch of fans don't you think ?

I've just finished going through all the CollectA figures on the dinotoycollector site and marking the retired ones accordingly.  Through doing this I noticed CollectA has retired a lot of "standard" figures and less of the deluxe figures.

Frankly I'm surprised CollectA retired anything at all.

When researching for my collection I ran into needing a retired CollectA figure only once of twice, with the most memorable case being Rhomaleosaurus.

By comparison there is at least a dozen figure of Safari figures that I need but have been retired; Safari seems indeed one of the most trigger happy companies with its retirements.

Seeing some of those early collecta sculpts, I am very much not surprised they retired older figures. Collecta skyrocketed in terms of improvement because a lot of those early figures are dreadfully ugly and look like they were made from a maquette that had just barely started melting in the sun.

I've finished updating the CollectA prehistoric pages on Toy Animal Wiki, they show CollectA has retired a lot of standard figures and appears to be shifting towards a preference for deluxe figures.  I think the thing is that CollectA has retired a lot of poor figures while Safari has retired a lot of good ones even if they are fewer than CollectA's.  Here's the link to the CollectA page: https://toyanimalwiki.mywikis.wiki/wiki/CollectA_Prehistoric_Life_Collection
