???

I have this year's Borealopelta,Carnotaurus and Edaphosaurus from this line and they all have 2018 stamped on them too.
Don't you hate it when you legitimately compliment someone's mustache and she gets angry with you?

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Just got three of them from ED's eBay store, plus the Estemenosuchus. They're all very nice figures in hand. Strange they say 2018 on them though. Does they all say that then?
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

PhilSauria

Did not expect to see this one so soon, I guess because over here it won't be available to order until June (but that date could slide further on as has been known to happen). I am a big fan of the Deluxe size figures from Collecta, the Styracosaurus and Iguanodon sitting towards the front of my display shelves in prominent positions. The Elasmotherium will also be another front-rower once I have it in my possession.
Andy is just a reviewing machine, doesn't seem like that long ago that he started posting on You Tube and now the tally of his videos must be in three figures.

It disappointed me to see a few recent negative comments that were quite disrespectful to video reviewers and I couldn't understand why fellow collectors who were enthusiastic enough to take the time to create and post these reviews giving us a good look at these figures and thereby help other collectors make more informed buying choices were the recipients of such a backlash. I guess there are those that do something and those that criticize. I know which ones I respect more. Though I may not always agree with some of the opinions voiced by some of the reviewers I respect their right to voice them and treat the whole exercise as if someone had invited you in to see their stuff and tell which figures were their favorites.

Rant over.

I haven't said anything due to not having logged in in a fortnight or so but I have to say I don't like video reviews of anything in general, and like others I only watch with sound off. It is nothing personal. Also I find reviewers in general to be a little 'too much'.

Fair enough we are all free to like what we like. I assume by 'too much' that the enthusiasm that sees the videos created in the first place can carry over into the way they present the reviews which I must say doesn't bother me that much. I do tend to find some of the rambling presenters voicing over a badly lit subject and spending half the video telling you why they haven't posted in a while a bit of a waste of time - but there are a lot of very professional and personable presenters out there to follow and whom I watch regularly.

My beef was more with the negative and dismissive tone of the comments, especially towards fellow collectors who took the time and effort to film, edit and post this material.

The elasmotherium of Collecta 2019 It's fantastic and it's a awesome figure! Beautiful and well done with some well-sculpted and detailed hairs and honestly you should not take into account the comments made by people about toy figures of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals on social networks. Sincerely this elasmotherium is the figure of the year like so many other candidates figures of toy brands of prehistoric animals of 2019. Sincerely I am excited that Collecta has made a figure of one of my favorite prehistoric mammals, on the other hand I congratulate Collecta for not doing the carnotaurus and fukuiraptor with articulated jaws and have placed permanent bases and is more opted to make the baryonyx with articulated jaw, in this case Collecta has adopted an equitable solution between those of us who support fixed jaws without articulating and those who are in favor of jaws articulated in theropods and other prehistoric animals. In my case I feel pampered by this company of Collecta and I am very happy with its prehistoric mammal again and sincerely it is so great or even more than its megacerops, kelenken, uintatherium and deinotherium to give some examples.

In the video it is seen that this figure is of a considerable size (comparing it with its counterpart tyrannosaurus rex) which I celebrate. Honestly, in my case, I am not a fan of scaled prehistoric animal collections and I congratulate Collecta that they have chosen to make a theropod to a more or less similar size. I am not in favor of the figures of prehistoric animals too small (although I am an enthusiastic collector) and obviously I am not supporter of dinosaur and other species of prehistoric animals too large (for example ceratosaurus and huanghetitan of PNSO or tyrannosaurus and Triceratops of Collecta to scale 1:15) except for the pterosaurs of the Supreme rank, I prefer dinosaurs like the ones Collecta is doing this year. I love this Collecta elasmotherium to a large size like its iguanodon or styracosaruus of the same brand. Faced with the harsh criticism made by certain connoisseurs of toys or models of dinosaurs (which I deserve all the respect in the world) in my case I do not consider them, perhaps because I do not understand paleontology as the first reason and as a second reason because I like the art and the sculptures of prehistoric animals well done regardless of whether they are scientific or not and in this case fortunately is the case.

My congratulations to the Collecta brand and my greatest desire to be in the wholesale and retail market of toys and collectibles with that elasmotherium and other prehistoric animals of 2019 like the rest of prehistoric animal toy brands, what is beneficial for these brands It will be beneficial for those of us who are collectors, as is my case.

My note of elasmotherium is 10 out of 10. It is a very beautiful figure and it is the unicorn that I always dreamed of making a toy dinosaur company.

Few pics of the Carnotaurus with most of the other Carnotaurus models. Also made a overhead comparison of the heads vs the holotype skull. The CollectA and 2011 Carnegie really nailed it.

Nice comparison of the different Carnotaurus figure heads. And I've never seen that top view of the skull before. Was much thinner then I realized it to be.

Edit: Guess this means the Safari Ltd one is wider then it should be? Still though the worst offenders seem to be the Papo one and the Rebor one in terms of width. Mattel's seems to be about the same as the Safari Ltd one which isn't too bad then, at least going off of these images, but unlike the Safari Ltd one, the Mattel one does have some shrinkwrapping as per typical for Jurassic film creatures, and obviously lacks lips.

I think it's a bit wider, but also the skull is just bone, it could have been a bit wider with the soft tissue, so I don't think it it's too far off the CollectA does get it very right.

Thank you so much for creating this! I've found it so hard to find images that show these figures' heads from above like that, to see how they relate to the weird thinness of Carnotaurus' skull. On that basis I think I'll have to track down the 2011 carnegie.

Dino Scream3232

You're welcome avatar_Silvanusaurus @Silvanusaurus. The 2011 Carnegie is a fantastic model. Each of those Carnotaurus models has their merits. I compared each one to the CollectA in my video review. https://youtu.be/t8F5RpF5Or0

Does skull width really matter much if it was capable of cranial kinesis as once theorized?

Just got three of them from ED's eBay store, plus the Estemenosuchus. They're all very nice figures in hand. Strange they say 2018 on them though. Does they all say that then?

It's probably just an artifact of how long toy production takes, the moulds would have been made last year. I'm pretty sure I've seen other new dinosaur toys with the previous year stamped on them.

For example, the new PNSO dinosaurs (mini figures) appear on their stamps before their production year.

Finally had some time to looks of the Borealopelta figure. For such a small model it packs a lot of nice detail. CollectA always seems to be ahead of the curve producing new species and updating models with the latest scientific research. Compared this little fellow to a lot of other armored dinos in my collection. Always fun going through old stuff and revisiting them again. https://youtu.be/-GpGFy7eqdA

Magnificent video and photographs Dino Scream3232l borealopelta of Collecta is small but very good. Very well sculpted. It is not perhaps because of the small size one of my favorites from Collecta in this year 2019 but sincerely deserves five or in the worst case four stars for its beautiful sculpture.

My congratulations for your video D @Dino Scream3232  and especially apart from the review that you make a comparative video with other figures of the same species and even with the Carnotaurus of Collecta 2019. I have already signed up to your line of videos on YouTube are fabulous.

Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews)

Such a lovely model! The Borealopelta is the top model on my wishlist.

Incidentally, what is the model to the left of the Safari Ankylosaurus in the group pic?

Shonisaurus

avatar_Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews) @Stuckasaurus The model that is to the left of the ankylosaurus of Safari 2018 is the zhejiangosaurus of Vitae 2018. Magnificent sculpture.

Dino Scream3232

Thanks for the kind words as always avatar_Shonisaurus @Shonisaurus. And yes avatar_Stuckasaurus (Dino Dad Reviews) @Stuckasaurus it's the vitae zhejiangosaurus. Hopefully there will be news soon of some of vitae's models they showed off last last year.
