Schleich - new for 2020

Ugh.
Something is wrong with Schleich.
Their new horse 2020 models are hated by fans.
Their general animals for 2020 are lackluster (reindeer is ok).

I was hoping that prehistoric models gonna be decent, but this is disappointing.

Ok, so
Cryolophosaurus -not great, but I kinda likie this model, dont know why.
Baryonyx - Ok, i am worried about teeth painting in real model
Agustinia - I also liked the look, but yeah, outdated
Ankylosaurus - nothing special, it's like i seen it beefore in a form of mini figure (looks to similar to Schleich Saichania 14536)
Postosuchus - something wrong with its eye, maybe IRL will look better

You know when you've screwed up horses you've screwed up. And those are probably like a good proposition of sales.

Sincerely disappointed Schleich was much better his previous year with his spinosaurus, dracorex or diabloceratops even the animantarx and dimorphodon.

With regard to dinosaurs and prehistoric animals my opinions are the following:

Schleich postosuchus is honestly perhaps the weakest figure made by a traditional brand of toy dinosaurs are superior WWD and Safari counterparts. His legs are beautifully sculpted are very thin but what spoils him are his teeth and his eyes wide.

Schleich's cryolophosaurus has a crest that does not convince me. I expected it to be a higher quality figure without having to admit that its paint colors are quite good.

The baryonxy of Schleich lives up to its dinosaurs counterparts from the previous year referred to in the first paragraph is perhaps by far his best figure reminds me a lot in the color and quality of Battat acrocanthosaurus.

The agustinia of Schleich at first sight seems much better than the counterparts of other brands. It is perhaps the figure of its kind in a better made toy but could have been improved. The painting of the figure could have been improved is very conservative but unattractive.
´
Schleich's ankylosaurus with all my respect for the sculptor is a very good figure but his pose reminds me very much of his Papo counterpart and I know that every comparison is odious.

Schleich has shown in previous years to make quality figures but honestly the one that attracts me the most is the baryonyx that lives up to my expectations and perhaps the agustinia with all the paint defects that a repaint can fix. I think it's a pretty small figure.

What perhaps spoils the theropods are their blunt, more pointed teeth and a mouth with lips would have been preferable especially in the cryolophosaurus and postosuchus with that valuation of mine a double purpose would have been achieved to make more attractive and scientific figures and on the other hand as I know that they are also intended for children with pointed teeth and with lips they would not have any danger to the integrity of the smallest of the house, although my assessments may vary over time considering that they are promotional photos and it would be convenient See them from other angles.

For now my assessment is 6.5 out of 10. I am sorry to put this provisional note but I have to express my point of view deserving the greatest respect to the sculptor of such beautiful Schleich figures whose brilliance as a professional I am one hundred percent sure there would be He was able to make much better figures considering that the 2019 sculptures were brilliant and that they rubbed shoulders with the best brands of toy and collection dinosaurs. Like every year I have faith that Schleich can improve and I trust his sculptors in Vlad Konstantinov and the rest of Schleich's team.

On the other hand, the baryonyx of Schleich for me is in the same place of brilliance as the best figures of Battat theropods and forgiveness of the members of DTF because even for some it can be an heresy considering that Dan LoRusso that for me is a mythical and legendary figure of paleoescultor of dinosaur figures comparable in genius to Budian or Charles R. Knight but considering that their figures were advanced in their time and are not "retro" dinosaurs and without a doubt they are still valid as dinosaurs of high quality despite the passage of time and its sad physical disappearance. Forgive Mr. Administrator and the members of the forum for speaking in this paragraph and comparing this figure with that of Battat, but it is the first thing that has caught my attention. It reminds me a lot in its colorful Battat acrocanthosaurus (latest version) and its great modeling. It is a baryonyx tall that of Schleich 2020.

Incidentally, the Schleich baryoyx my score is 9 out of 10, considering that this great theropod made by Schleich in 2020 has no lips and his teeth are surely blunt like cryolophosaurus and postosuchus.

In any case, Schleich's production has been good but I have to admit that it has fallen in quality and beauty compared to the current year.

I'll be ordering the Baryonyx and the Postosuchus (with a makeover on those eyes), but as for the rest - more money to spend on PNSO!

The Agustinia looks pretty decent, save for the feet and the spines, but I can forgive the spines. The Baryonyx looks pretty nice, so I might pick up the two of them, maybe paint over the Agustinia's extra claws with yellow. Not often you find non-titanosaur somphospondyl toys. Ironic that Baryonyx is the one that's gotten right, or closest to it at least.

The Ankylosaurus could work as another ankylosaurid, like Tarchia or a particularly knobbly Talarurus. The Postosuchus is too gaunt and gangly for my taste, and the Cryolophosaurus is on the other end of the scale, being too fat and chonky. Really the only ones that interest me are the Baryonyx and Agustinia, and perhaps to some extent, the "Ankylosaurus". The Cryolophosaurus and Postosuchus are solid contenders for the dubious honor of "Worst Representation of their Respective Species".

Kileskus

Cryolophosaurus - this is not cryolophosaurus. Taxon is very fragmentary, but the chance it had carcharodontosaur-like proportions is one of least likely of all. Really it looks like one of their gigas with crest.

Baryonyx - completely different vibe. Really, there no company with such differences among one year's products. Figure looks great.

Postosuchus - doesn't look good to me. It definetly based of outdated WWD reconstruction, and i prefer bipedal Scott Hartman's skeletal.

Ankylosaurus - very similar to their Brown stegosaurus. Both have fighting pose, both are not very interesting in color.

Agustinia - good-looking, but i think, that so fragmentary taxa should be a big no for toy companies. Literally one new discovery may turn figure to inaccurate and outdated thing, and it's almost happened to agustinia now.

Irritation

Yeah, that Cryo doesn't look super great, but we've suffered from worse (Acrocanthosaurus) but the one that surprises me is the Baryonyx. I thought it was going to be bad, but it looks decent. The Ankylo I'm gonna pick up anyways because this was a long run coming for me. The other two are kinda "meh."

Acro was bad, but it had some "retro-look", cryo is just inaccurate.

Shonisaurus

The cryolophosaurus of Schleich now just saw it again and sincerely I think the sculpture decent what happens that they would have to see the photos from other angles. Schleich's baryonyx is honestly the best for me and the postosuchus sincerely what kills him are those eyes reminds me of the missing mark of Bullyland in relation to this dinosaur that painted unnatural eyes (it is an appreciation of mine). Agustinia is pretty, perhaps the best agustinia toy to date, but it seems to me that it will logically be a small figure since it was a small sauropod, and the ankylosaurus is perhaps the least interesting figure for my collection. That position of the tail (which may have shown it in an attitude of defense in real life) seems unnatural but as I say it is an appreciation of mine. Unfortunately we will never know how dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, including mammals and creatures of the ice age, actually behaved and moved.

I don't know guys I like them all except the cryo. remember, these are schleich figures, so you have to judge them like schleich figures.

Schleich always seems to take one steap ahead and two steps back, don't they? And here I hoped we'd finally see them up to their glory days again. :'D
Especially sad, given how the stores here only pack Schleich, with the occasional chinasaurs and once in a blue moon three Papos. With this year and last year's release I at least had stuff to look forward to since they produced some really nice and surprisingly accurate models, but here?
The Baryonyx looks pretty nice, might pick that one up (If we're lucky it even looks better in hand, I do wish the underside had some more color to it though), I kind of like the Postosuchus, outdated posture aside (that was to be expected) but I do hope this is just a bad angle and the head looks better from a different one, something just seems...off about it.
Agustinia has a fun pose and that's about it for positive things.
The Ankylo looks kinda off and also pretty drab (What's with all the ankylosaurs being so dull in color by so many producers?) and that Cryo...god that Cryo. I do like the colors but everything else just seems like this guy is in a lot of pain and if you just compare this to the Papo one...heck even the old CollectA Cryo is better!

Ravonium

I find it funny how every single figure in this lineup has been accused of being inspired...well, all but the one that just so happens to be the worst in the lineup  ;) :P

CityRaptor

Probably because it is just their Giganotosaurus with a crest on top. The colorscheme is however inspired by this:
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Dammit...I did suspect that it was inspired, but thanks nevertheless for the confirmation.

Perhaps avatar_Andreioli @Andreioli or one of the mods could add the images to the OP?

avatar_CityRaptor @CityRaptor Said to say that image didn't even come to mind when I saw it. That would certainly explain why I like the color scheme though, as that image was the very first time I've seen and learned of Cryolophosaurus, which I swear I saw way back as a kid, but regardless it still has a bit of nostalgia for me.

All the more I'm disappointed with how this one appears to have been sculpted, but time will tell if it is as bad as it looks here. On top of that, it seems like a missed oppurtunity to base the skull off of that one, even if it might be outdated now.

Looks like Schleich has gone full Geoworld, absolutely no integrity or production standards.

Gothmog the Baryonyx

I don't want to sound rude but that is a dreadful set of figures, yuk.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

ItsTwentyBelow

What I really don't get is what happened to the sculptor who did their Spinosaurus last year, because that guy absolutely nailed it. Their work is no where to be found in this lineup.

These are all just slightly too crappy for me to really be interested in acquiring any of them, though I like the Cryolophosaurus in some stupid, ugly way. Maybe it's just the color.

Why not give the good sculptor more opportunities? Did we even see any evidence of the Spinosaurus sculpt being lifted from other existing paleoart like these new figures are?
