I don't mind all the osteoderms; they make the Majungasaurus look even more distinctive. The botched horn is bugging me now. But I bought this to give to my older son anyway, so it's ultimately not a big deal. He's got many less scientifically accurate toys in his dino collection.

Now I'm hoping that either Safari releases a Majungasaurus next year or CollectA replaces their old one.

I'm technically not bother by it either, but listed it because I wasn't sure how it would qualify towards accuracy.

It would be nice to see how those would handle this genus, but at least there should be the Wild Past one soon enough too.

I'm surprised that Majungasaurus has not received more attention. It's certainly distinctive enough, and even generated a bit of fame thanks to Jurassic Fight Club. Anyway, I also managed to find the Mattel Majungasaurus today and am quite taken with it. Would certainly love to see one from Safari though.

I didn't know about majunga's horn, that may be a deal breaker for me...just like the allosaur head on the albertasaurus: Nice sculpt but the errors make it too chimerical for me. :-\

would love to see one myself by Safari

A few of the Walmarts in my area are finally starting to stock new product, so I was able to find these two yesterday.

I only found one Majungasaurus, and...

I think I'll try to find another one.

Nice, I really want to find that Majungasaurus. None of the Walmarts I've checked in central Washington (as recently as yesterday) have restocked their Jurassic stuff in months!

It must be soon. Target stores already have their CC stuff out from what I can tell, but I make it to Target more rarely.

EDIT: ^Ouch, yeah. Really unfortunate and frustrating how bad the paint apps can be. The eye print on that Majunga almost completely missed the sculpting for the eye. That would make me put it back on the shelf and hold out for another one too... :-\

I had better not find one like that, Mattel  >:(

avatar_Eocarcharia @Eocarcharia Yowza, that's some rough paint! And I thought the first one I saw in person was bad.

terrorchicken

are the eyes machine painted? how can a human miss the molded eye indent like that? (I know working at those factories suck but still.)

I reckon most, if not all of these elements are machine painted.

Gwangi

After reading the last few comments I had to run upstairs and check my Majunga, I didn't look over it very carefully before purchase. Thankfully its paint looks well applied.  :P

that makes sense, looks like the eye is stamped on but missed the right spot, heh.

I can confirm most of the Mattel figures are machine painted. Machine painting gives the distinctive "grid fade" pattern that can be seen whenever they use fading colours.

Eocarcharia

I stopped by another Walmart today to look for a few other things, and found another Majungasaurus. Thankfully, this one has both eyes painted in the proper place.

After getting a bit of a worrying delivery update last night (there was a "delivery exception", maybe delivered to the wrong address or something), and after weeks of waiting, my SDCC Dennis Nedry figure finally arrived.

Definitely so glad to have this in my collection now. Also maybe worth mentioning that the box, despite being labeled as fragile was a little beat up, but thankfully everything inside was not damaged. Oddly there was some brown gunk or something on the outside of the Barbasol can, but it cleaned up with a bit of water, pressure, and a paper towel.

Also in case anyone is interested I made a quick video of the sound effects and light up feature:

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin Congrats! Happy the EE ones are getting out there finally. Now, if only Mattel Creations would start sending their orders out.

Faelrin

avatar_Loon @Loon I've actually been wondering that as well as I managed to luckily order one from my friend in Guatemala from there (who I got my BD Plesiosaurus from originally).

I swear it said October but considering the rush there was to nab it from there I didn't really look at it much. I'm thinking about asking them on the Mattel Creations instagram about it but no idea if they will respond.

Oh, that dilophosaurus looks... unfortunate. That's really the first time I think the paint on a Mattel toy's really bothered me. But, it's probably cuz that was one I actually wanted, not so much now.
