I agree with the above. The Giganotosaurus looks like a dinosaur suit, while the Cryolophosaurus just looks like a particularly dramatic pose.

Yeah, the Cryolophosaurus doesn't have its legs spread ridiculously wide apart like that Kaiju.

I was looking at my Cryo last night and I do believe that this is one of, if not the best of Papo's theropods, with the stance being believable. The same can't be said of the Giga - "dinosaur suit," ya, that what it reminds me of, a bizarre Halloween apparition, though , again, the production values are outstanding.

I think it really is because, aside from the tail, the pose the Cryolophosaurus has is probably more anatomically possible, and while I've said this before I think, but the Giganotosaurus would probably need to break its neck, etc and/or has deformed proportions to fit the posture. Aside from the updated skull shape and give or take the arms, the rest is pretty rough.

It really is the splayed legs and broken neck that ruin the Giganotosaurus. As Scott Hartman noted awhile back, it probably would be possible for a big theropod to rear up high, but not that way.

Anyone has news on the Stygimoloch? When should we expect it to be available?

Shonisaurus

I would like that figure to be marketed soon along with its megaloceros. I guess it will take a little longer. I have my suspicions that the last two prehistoric animal figures the stygimoloch dinosaur and the megaloceros prehistoric mammal will be much better than the first trade liberalization of the Papo 2020 figures.

Well I'm going to make the best out of this awful pose.

OK D @Dino Scream3232, those made my day.  Well done!  :))

Shonisaurus

These photographs show that the pose of Papo's giganotosaurus is quite unreal, it seems a very humanized pose, although the sculpture is detailed, I think they should have reedited that species in a new one, totally modifying its physiognomy. Papo could make a good, outstanding dinosaur like Papo's limited version spinosaurus did in his day.

D @Dino Scream3232 Those pics are hilarious. Great ideas.

Ya know, it REALLY surprises me that Papo has yet to tackle any of the 3 supercrocs:
Deinosuchus, Sarcosuchus and Purussaurus.

With how nice their Nile crocodile, Gharial and Kaprosuchus (missing it's signature bulbous nose though) turned out, along with their general preference of more "awesome" creatures; you'd expect Papo to have plans to make a truly spectacular supercroc, one that's big and detailed enough to be an eye-catching centrepiece in any collector's prehistoric collection. Something the Papo Giganotosaurus desperately tries to be, yet fails miserably in doing so.

suspsy

Crocodylia in general don't seem to receive enough attention from toy companies. Sure, there's lots of toys of American alligators and Nile crocodiles, but when was the last time you saw a black caiman or a mugger crocodile or a false gharial or those aforementioned prehistoric titans?

Some amazing photos, honestly the one with the Infinity Gauntlet works WAY too well (and man, the sculpting itself is really nice but those legs...really man-in-suit like you guys said)

And true, it'd be amazing if they'd tackle one of the "super crocs" (or even rauisuchians), their crocodilians are amazing and you can't go that wrong with poses there.

D @Dino Scream3232 those are hilarious!  ;D

Thank you, you made my day! ;D

Are you sure??

Papo might spit this out at us.

Probably due to the fact that most people think that all extant crocodilians are the same. Hell, most people struggle to distinguish between alligators and crocodiles. Much less the other members of crocodylia.

I really hope someone will tackle Tomistoma one day as well. Speaking of, are there any good caiman figures available besides the Kaiyodo wild rush one? Was excited when Safari announced theirs, but the sculpt was rather cartoony.

PrimevalRaptor

avatar_KeU @KeU that lowkey reminds me of Primeval's Pristichampsus...I could see Papo doing that (I gotta admit, this is lowkey cool though...even though it's a big "why")
