Hypno Bunny

Anyone know the brand or maker of this toy? He was in a box with other items from the 60's - 80's. He is flocked and sprayed purple. Any information you may have would be appreciated.

Odd, I can access your links when quoting your post. Did you use "image link" or "direct link" from imgur? I typically use direct link for my posts.
(I changed the imgs to urls for my quote here)

I do say, that's a pretty Stegosaurus! I can't say I recognize it, though. The flocked texture you describe reminds me of a version of the big Jasman Carnotaurus I once had, but from what I can tell this figure doesn't match the Jasman designs.

Anyone know what make this Amargasaurus is? Certain it's a bootleg , but would be great if anyone knows what brand the original is.

Really, really hope you can help with this.

My wife and I bought this dinosaur for 50c at a school sale on our honeymoon in Bologna in 2011. Since then it has been all over Europe but last week I lost it on holiday in Sweden - it has massive sentimental value.

It's about 5-6in tall and has a small round hole in its belly, presumably from its manufacturing. It's made of soft rubber rather than hard plastic. Any help would be really, really appreciated - and this forum seems the obvious place!!

If it is then I wish you good luck in finding another, something like that will probably be best found in "generic" ebay listings, e.g. bundles of dino toys, "soft t rex toy" etc... since it doesn't belong to a "major" brand

Halichoeres

Does Toy Major make soft rubber toys in that size? They made a squishy vinyl one that was maybe 30 cm long that I only ever saw at Toys R Us, but it didn't look like this. C @cycleboy2 I hope you don't mind if I embed one of your images, I think more people might see it that way:

The description of soft rubber made me think of one of the Italian blind bag companies like DeAgostini or Diramix. I could imagine them having made this sort of thing years ago. Was this toy hollow, or do you think it was filled with cotton wadding, sand, or gel beads?

Thanks for embedding the picture - I couldn't work out how to do it!

I think it was hollow rather than filled with anything. It was very bendable and after taking pictures of it - all over Europe - it would squish into my pocket. Didn't feel like there was any sand or beads in it.

It was bought in Italy, which tallies with the brands mentioned.

I really appreciate your help with this, and I never knew there were so many variations on toy dinosaurs. You've also got the hardest questions for joining a forum I've ever come across! Presumably to keep out bots.

Blackdanter

Just bought this original vintage illustration on a whim (kinda fell in love with it). Not signed or marked in any way but the style does have familiar elements that put me in mind of a 1970's UK dinosaur illustrator who worked in watercolour and gouache.

Anyone seen this image published anywhere, perhaps in a vintage book (1970's 1980's or early 1990's)?

Fembrogon

It appears to be a rework or imitation of a John Sibbick illustration; don't know what particular book this version might have appeared in, though.

Wow. Great spot Fembrogon. That's a good starting point for me. Unless it's a prelim, It's not right for the technical style of a finished Sibbick (although the medium is correct). I'll see if I can find a point of contact to see what he has to say about it.

Fembrogon

No problem! I thought it looked very familiar, as John Sibbick's work (and imitators) was quite prevalent in books when I was a kid. The challenge was finding a version of it on the internet to verify!  :))

Thanks Fembrogan. I didn't have much interest in dinosaur books by the mid 80's (I was a child of the 60's/70's) so I'm not that aware of Sibbick's work from that time. The Sibbick image is from the Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Dinosaurs by David Norman. I know I have a 1990's revised copy of the 1985 original about here someplace ................................ finding it though, might take a couple of days.

Lynx

I found a blue spinosaurus with a red sail at walmart a while back, I am almost positive it is a knockoff of a figure. Its in a tripod stance, with its back legs and one of its arms touching the ground, and it's mouth is open. I am unable to recall what brand it is. Any idea what it may be a knockoff was?
An oversized house cat.

Fembrogon

It might be a Schleich knockoff; they've done that pose a few times before

These were a Christmas gift when I was young; and I seem to have tore part of the label off..
I can't say whether all the labels on the box are originally from this box, or if I took them off of something else

Some of the molds are the same as the Marx dinosaurs; what that means I don't know.
Any information is greatly appreciated; I'm trying to catalogue the figures I've accumulated over the years.
