Resin Kit Painter/Assembler Recommendations?

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and save for a model kit. In a couple of months or so, I plan on buying Shane Foulkes' Ambulocetus, but, I don't trust these disgusting hands of mine with putting it together.

I'm looking for recommendations on anyone who can help out with this. The listing on Dan's Dinosaurs states that it can be sent to an artist on request, and I'm wondering if anyone who's done that has any feedback on it.

Thanks in advance for anyone who helps.

I bought three kits from Dan's Dinosaurs: Sean Cooper 1:6 Smilodon / Shane Foulkes 1:10 Gorgonops / David Krentz 1:18 "Rex Mundi" Tyrannosaurus.
All those kits were sent by Dan's to Mr. Martin Garratt in UK to be finished.
He is one of the best about finishing a resin kit and his prices are really affordable.
Unfortunately Mr. Garratt is taking a break from work due to personal issues.
I don't know who's the artist Dan's Dinosaurs is working with now.
Probably you should contact Dan directly asking for info.
On my personal experience any other well-known artist is really much more expensive than Garratt (and I'm experiencing some troubles about that with my unfinished resin kits  :-\ ).
Perhaps now Dan's Dinosaurs works with a talented new artist not so expensive, I really don't know.
Please, let us know about news on this, it will be really appreciated.  ^-^

Doesn't Shane build and paint some of his own kits? You could also try contacting him directly.

I also contacted him: usually he's very busy with work and he can't complete a commission so fast; he's also too much expensive for me.. :'(

avatar_RobinGoodfellow @RobinGoodfellow avatar_paintingdinos @paintingdinos thank you both for the help. And I will post updates whenever I make a collection thread, hopefully I can get my display in order so I can start one at some point. Until then, most of my figures are packed up.

I will contact Dan's Dinosaurs, because, like avatar_RobinGoodfellow @RobinGoodfellow, price is also a big factor for me. So figuring out the total is what's going to be important to me before I commit to anything.

I'm not sure how DD goes about it. Crecy Models tends to usually do it themselves or can be requested to be sent to whoever you wanna have it built at. Dan tends to have specialty models that come directly from them though and seeing how they both deal with resin kits mainly they are obviously seasoned with it.

But as a side note you can request for it to be sent to your artist of your choosing (whoever they work with) given that let's say Shane is available to do it for you then there's a request box right when you purchase the kit. Try Steve Riojas he's one of the best in the industry although his prices can be pretty high it's worth it for a resin kit.

I'd first go into a FB group like Dinosaur Dungeon to find other artists but when it comes to resin kits you're not gonna be paying cheap honestly unless you can paint them yourself. Also I'm not sure how you could contact half the artists without FB either so that's another barrier if you don't have one.

..it's extremely hard to contact Steve Riojas.. I sent 2 emails and 1 message via Facebook on September 2019 and I'm still waiting for an answer..  :(

He messaged me back the following day after I messaged him I'm gonna assume he's really busy then. That sucks though  :-\

I sent an email to Dan, so hopefully I hear back soon. I'm not sure what to expect price wise. What kinds of prices have you guys paid in the past for assembly and painting. Also, this might sound really naive, but does the buyer have a say in the paint scheme, or is it up to the artist?

If you order through Shane the way he does it you'll be paying the amount the kit costs. So a $200 kit will cost in most cases $200 to paint and build up unless it's massive for the price then it'll go higher.

I'm currently in talks on a paint and built up of a kit with Davide from Crecy models and he's charging me around $70 for it but the kit is $200 and rather small for the price at 1:40 scale. So basically $300 USD for the kit once it's shipped since it comes from Europe.

Tl;Dr Expect to spend like you're buying two copies of the same resin kit.

Steve charges on the scale so he'll ask how long it is and such. I'll have to check but if my memory serves me right he charged me $350 for the Mo models Carcha kit which I ended up backing out of at the time.

S @Syndicate Bias you're right about the price. A few minutes after posting about it in a Facebook group, Shane Foulkes himself sent me a friend request(OMG) and was messaging me about it. I'll definitely be going with him, as it'll be cheaper than buying from Dan's Dinosaurs. Very excited about this.

Nice, most often times it's best to buy from the artist than distributors if you want lower prices.

A couple of sites to keep in mind.

Shane's own site

And Paleocraft

I wonder if he's working on that 1:15 scale Carcharodontosaurus
