Sorry but in my opinion it would not have made much sense to publish a link to a photo that portrayed a prototype  ( and on my pro Flickr Album about my Collection)  ..anyway, I  have some others X-Plus / StarAce recent models ( Allosaurus & Tumak / Triceratops & Loana / Ceratosaurus Deluxe / Cyclops Deluxe and Ymir Deluxe).
Usually final figures are different from promotional pictures.
That's not the case.
Products have almost the same apparence than pictures.
Regards
:)

BLADE-OF-THE-MOON:

Your suggestion about looking at Harryhausen's original models he used led me to search for photos of his original Ymir and I don't think the models I saw were the actual originals.
I did find photos that apparently are  Harryhausen's original Rhedosaurus model. I saw an article which suggested he used two---a 12" and a 6".

I also saw photos of Harryhausen models in various museum exhibitions---some are obviously his original models, but some look like they might be refined versions done later.

You can search up by model, a lot of Ray's models were cannibalized to save money on making new creatures, I think the Ymir became the Cyclops?   There are sculpts of some in museums and collections, they seem to be approved by Ray as accurate to the creature represented though.

I knew Harryhausen had cannibalized some of his models.

I don't know if you're a fan of all sci fi models, but a model of the Thetan from THE OUTER LIMITS episode "Architects of Fear" sold for big bucks on ebay tonight. I saw that episode when I was a kid and it really creeped me out. I posted trivia about it on another forum last year---the tv commercial was so scary that some ABC affiliates refused to run it and others ran it late at night so kids wouldn't see it.

This collector has made a Ymir vs. elephant diorama and other impressive Harryhausen models plus other sci fi models. Click on his table of contents at the top of the page for his models.

That's cool.  I 'd actually like a big Gwangi vs Elephant piece if XPlus would do it. I'm not feeling most of these new releases.

I got my Ymir Deluxe and like the other Star Ace Harryhausen models, Star Ace is intentionally changing some aspects from the real Ymir in the movie. The Star Ace Ymir has the light pole in its right paw and the man in its left paw, but the movie Ymir is the opposite. Also, the man figure is way too small to match the size of the man in the movie.

I'm glad I have the Star Ace Ymir, Rhedosaurus and Kraken, but I'm curious as to why Star Ace is intentionally changing the models compared to the movie versions.

I don't know I really don't.  After talking with Godzilla collectors it seems XPlus is known for not really caring much about scale. Especially for accessory pieces.     It doesn't make much sense either when they have the rights to make these pieces, to not get small details right? I will be rethinking each new piece now when it comes to the Deluxe versions.

ROBINGOODFELLOW:

Congratulations on your Gwangi. I posted elsewhere that I just got an email telling me that Awesome Collector thinks they might get the Gwangi in several weeks.

Nice! My Deluxe version came in from Sideshow today :

GiganotosaurusFan

Any Giganotosauruses are friends. Any other carnivores are...I think I'll run now.

Is the jaw articulated?

No it's not.  The Deluxe has a magnet hidden in the mouth to hold the pteranodon's wing.

Check in the back of this pic, Medusa and Centaur incoming.  I don't see Minoton but he been put up for preorder as well.

Darko2300

I have no idea *where* I'm going to put her, but I'm afraid I won't be able to say no...

Blade-of-the-Moon

She's an immediate preorder as soon as Sideshow puts her up.

I have no more room-----but I'm still waiting for the Hydra, Cephalopod and the Flying Saucer.

I'll definitely buy the Hydra, space is a concern though. I may have to start selling more.

Just preordered the new Star Ace/XPlus Homunculus statue from the Harryhausen line.

Pretty sure he's about 1/1 scale?
