I've begun work on my Safari Ltd. Trike! I had already repainted it beforehand, however looking at source images, I decided to do away with Safari's scaly frill and trade it for (at least what BotM, PNSO, and some users on Deviantart tell me is) a more accurate one, covered in keratin. Using a toothpick and my go-to modeling clay I got from the dollar store for $3 for a decently sized brick, if i remember correctly. https://imgur.com/a/VwGDuxF (apologies for the wonky angle of the first pic which also includes one more project of mine out of four )

It has looked very good on you, that red color on the top of the head by the way a very attractive color, and having removed the scales from the gola make that triceratops a very attractive figure, and it is a new artistic interpretation of that well-known Ceraptosid from the Cretaceous.

Quite an interesting outcome in the works. I'm surprised at how good it looks, but I have to ask you - how durable is this modelling clay? Is it brittle and prone to chipping? Did you have to primer it?

It can be brittle when its really thin, but I've found that spraying it with water and spreading it gets it to stick to most surfaces best. If not, it's up to Elmer's Craft Glue to pull it through. They look like the same brand! I sincerely congratulate you on your excellent repaints. I would like to have the mastery and ability that you have when it comes to repainting the paintings. As I always say in the forum, repaints often make this figure much better than the originals.

The base coat for the Papo knockoff was lighter and I used a dark drybrush. The Schleich knockoff had a darker base and lighter dry brushing. Personally like the lighter drybrush on the Schleich one. One last post before the post on the Triceratops, some smol Sphaerotholus..es. Cut the male's (the larger one's) legs from a very vertical position that gave it a tripod pose and sculpted and superglued them smoothly back into his hips. Then I cut off half his tail in exchange for a longer one made of clay. I ran into trouble making it as it kept cracking so note to self to use tin/aluminum foil as a base. For the second, I girthed it up in its stomach with clay, and extended the tail similarly. http://imgur.com/gallery/Eph6iBB

This is very inspiring. I'm encouraged to try my own modifications. Though not a big supporter of knock-offs, this seems to be one appropriate usage.

S @SidB Bootlegs are inherently easy to repaint because of how cheap they normally are. I really advise buying bootlegs of figures that are discontinued though, and ones with good reviews and pictures. I was more than a bit sceptical at first, but , wow, that's fabulous! I love the dramatic color contrast.

Hm. That's odd. It may be because I changed my Imgur username. On another note it's fine actually, I'm planning on retaking the photos in better quality soon. I'm tweaking the Triceratops actually; pulling up the keratin on its cheek, sharpening and angling the brow horns, lessening the epoccipitals, all that jazz.

Alright, been awhile but here are my repaints of knockoffs of Parasaurolophuseseses! I got a hold of this WWD Gorgosaurus somewhere in the past and do not know where it came from, but it has a really great sculpt! It has tons of minute scaling on the body, though I wasn't keen on keeping him a Gorgosaurus. I'm turning him into a juvenile rex because I cannot get enough of 'em.
