New designs for some monsters have been revealed in a teaser trailer for the upcoming 2021 Netflix anime series "Godzilla Singular Point". No specific release date or cast has been announced as of yet, though rumours suggest April.

Because we can't let Meg 2 have all the spotlight today now can we ;)
Spoiler

This is the Rodan redesign I've been waiting for. As well as an all new pterosaur themed creature which seems to have leatherback turtle styled pseudo-teeth?

 ;D beat me to it.

Kaiju-fied pteranodon is delicious.

Blade-of-the-Moon

Some are ok, a few it is hard to tell what they were supposed to be like with Titanosaurus. Anguirus is beefy but almost over armored. Kinda getting Armadon vibes. The soundtrack is pretty sweet though.

Good catch, I hadn't spotted that but that tail probably is Manda. Had to double check but Chitanosaurus is indeed the same as Titanosaurus. I actually quite like the mosasaur look, even if it's a big departure.

I'm very interested to see where more of these go with the decided prehistoric influences of most of the redesigns we've seen so far.

Blade-of-the-Moon

We haven't seen Godzilla fully revealed yet either..that's kinda make or break.  Seems to have a very large sabre tooth? in that one shot.   If they keep the prehistoric vibe up it could look like Delgado's and Crash's original 98' Zilla designs.

I also like that redesign, traded the legs but it does look more fitting for a marine animal.
I tend to use Chitanosaurus to avoid confusion with the waste basket sauropod, although it wouldn't happen in this thread but I like to keep some consistency.

This is the first time I've ever heard that version of the name. I've always just called it Titanosaurus. Knew it before I knew of the real animal as a kid lol

I wonder if they're keeping Rodan as a flock of smaller mutated pterosaurs (shown in 0:28 of the trailer) instead of a single giant being.  That would be a novel take... but die hard fans might not like it.

Probably for good reason, it predates the sauropod being named by a few years.

The larger pterosaur seen initially in the trailer is Rodan. The smaller ones are something seemingly new.

Ooo, this is the first Godzilla thing I've had any genuine interest in since Shin Godzilla. I'm interested to get some better looks at the designs. Still, I do prefer the look so far to the last anime Netflix out out.

Actually, a release date has been revealed, I believe it was April 2021 or something. Not really a fan of Titanosaurus' redesign, just looks like the JW Mosa. Also I am pretty sure that those weird duck-billed Pterosaur things near the end aren't Rodan as we see him earlier on in the trailer. And for those asking about Godzilla's design, here you go:

Most (if not all) Rebor figures are mid

PrimevalRaptor

Big fan of the designs so far, especially the more pterosaur-like Rodan and Chitanosaurus (do love me some sea monsters after all). Gonna be exciting to see where this is heading.
The male protagonist reminds me a tad of a younger Gintoki (protagonist of Gintama)

Ah, yes! Really like the presentation of this new universe. Seems like that red substance will be an important plot point and it will be tied to the Kaiju´s origins.

Yes, male protagonist looks like the one from Gintama. Female protagonist also reminds me of some other character but I cant put my finger on it.

About the kaiju:
-Rodan looks like they just took a quetzalcoatlus from old dinosaur books and slapped Rodan features on it. It´s weird.
-The red kaiju just doesn't scream Titanosaurus to me, specially because of the lack of orange fins. I low-key hope is something different.
-Anguirus looking like a BEAST.
-Despite being kinda ridiculous, people love Jet Jaguar so his appearance here is good news for his fans. I guess they will handle this robot in a more "serious way", which I would appreciate.
-Of all Godzilla kaiju the last one I would have though about to include in a new series would be Gabara, but its here, an its already his best incarnation, not like the original is difficult to beat...

And they all look kinda small, I hope they dont make Godzilla smaller than 50 meters otherwise it would feel wrong.

Overall, really excited to see how this turns out.

I didn't even notice Jet Jaguar. I was actually thinking of him yesterday for some reason, but that was before I saw this...

Now, if only they'll bring back the greatest monster...

Faelrin

Wow the designs look really interesting in this. I really like what they did with Rodan and Anguirus.

Don't have access to Japanese Netflix so I haven't seen all 13 episodes, but they have broadcast episodes 1 & 2 in Japan.

It certainly seems to be a very character driven anime*, with the Kaiju seemingly following a monster of the week theme. So far, it seems silly and light-hearted with a very serious undertone.
*If you're only about Kaiju fighting Kaiju and couldn't care less about the human element, this show is not for you.

Spoilers for some plot elements of episodes 1&2
Spoiler

I can confirm that they are using the name "Radio Wave Kaiju Radon" to refer to the flock of pterosaur kaiju. 2 flocks with distinct appearances have been shown so far: the first looking like a reddish duck-billed rhamphorhyncoid. The 2nd kind looks like a double crested Pteranodon. Episode 3 might confirm if the 2 flocks are related. The dialogue implies that the Radon flock are heralds of a beast called "Koshira"... which one of the main characters says is probably a mistranslated "Gojira".

here's a quetz making a cameo while the in-world press discuss the size of the first Radon that appeared.  Individual Radon seem to be around the same size as ol' quetz.

Oh, and Jet Jaguar is the mecha that the protagonists intend to use to fight off the kaiju, but he is much smaller than an individual Radon.

The animators seem to be paleo-fans... or enthusiasts. The Rodan launch quadrupedally. ;D

spoiler details about Rodan from episode 3
Spoiler
The rhamphorhyncoid Rodan from episodes 1&2 are larger than Jet Jaguar. The new type Rodan from episode 3 is smaller... around the same size as a real Pteranodon.

On a separate note, 3 episodes in and still no sign of Godzilla.

Blade-of-the-Moon

That's cool, I'm definitely interested to watch it later.

The most recent announcements from Bandai seemed to have spoiled plot points for the anime (for those without access to Netflix JP).

The mosasaur-like beastie is not Titanosaurus as theorized.

explanation in spoilers
Spoiler
He is apparently Godzilla Aquatilis. The traditional looking dude (who has yet to make an appearance in the anime) is called Godzilla Ultima. Whether Aquatilis transforms to Ultima or (like Rodan who was shown to have 2 distinct forms) Godzilla is a genus name for a group of creatures remains to be seen.

Final episode (13) airs on June 16 in Japan. The show will be available for binging on global Netflix by June 24.

I'm hoping for an English dub for the global release. The run on Netflix Japan had subs that seem to have used machine translation*. There were instances when the sentences made no sense.
*Official English subs were only added by Netflix (to all the episodes) when episode 8 aired. I had to watch episodes 1-7 raw (and had to find fan-subs to really understand what was going on).

One funny bit about this anime; the main characters (who are Japanese) speak English from time to time. Yet, when the scene shifts to America (or indeed, all the other international locations featured) the random background characters all speak Nihongo/Japanese. ;D English is being presented as an exotic scholarly language, uttered only when the characters are discussing their pseudo-science. ;D ;D ;D
