Mattel - New for 2021 (Image Heavy op)

I visited my local Walmart yesterday for the first time since before Christmas and they don't have any Jurassic World toys, at all. But their entire toy section is poorly stocked. Target is better, and my one local Target is the only place I can get JW toys anymore. But even they have slacked off on stocking new products since about Christmas time.

Yeah that's really the sad reality of it. It's part of why human figures on their own have been ditched. They didn't sell well at all (I mean you know its bad when there's leftover stock still on the shelves from 2018 all the way into 2020, at least in my case).

We can thank Mattel's severe overestimation of Own Grady's popularity for that ;) . I really can't believe they prioritised making nameless mercenaries, and however many Owen variants we're stuck with at this point, rather than fan favourite characters from the first movie (and the 2nd and third movies I guess). Like for gods sake, it took Mattel nearly 2 years to give us a John Hammond figure... only to make him a SDCC-exclusive [at the time].

The Amber Collection is literally a slap in the face too. Not pleased with the direction Mattel took that line.

I know a lot of folks have encountered these same distribution issues (at least in the US, but probably plenty of other countries) unfortunately. Hopefully things improve for next year's film release.

The current major US distribution issues is like the average day for us over here since 2018. :'( But in all seriousness, I really do hope things will improve with the new film's release. But given Mattel's track record, I'd wager that stores will simply stock a full first-wave of 2022 figures, then leave the JW shelf to dry for the remainder of the years to come.

So a budget line...you know, these still look better than Hasbro's mainline.

Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no

Loon

I seriously doubt these will end up taking the place of the mainline anywhere. Hasbro's been doing stuff like this for a while, most of it goes to places like Walgreens and Dollar General or Family Dollar. Not that I want any, but the inclusion of electronics and gimmicks makes me wonder what the price will be.

Guess those cheap, bastardised electronic Battats finally have some direct competition  O:-)
I do wonder about the price as well. I guess 10 dollars maximum, or these budget figures wouldn't be worth it with Roarivores being priced at 14.99 dollars.

avatar_Flaffy @Flaffy Yeah I certainly agree with you on the overstocked Owen's, etc hurt a lot. Still even the Legacy human figures here eventually went on clearance, and didn't seem to sell a whole lot (granted us getting the lion's share of them probably meant there were too much needed for the demand anyways, and now I fear that's probably the case with the Amber Collection as well, with the Deltas and Echos shelf warming).

And yes it's unfortunate how distribution has been for the line globally, even during the film's release year, and a real shame things haven't improved much since then in most places (especially pre-covid). It's also really frustrating how the exclusives have been handled, but that's also mostly on the retailer side of things.

It's this kind of stuff that made me wish there were more online dinosaur collectable retailers that carried this line (but I don't know how that works to begin with, probably expensive too), alongside the usual stuff, like say Everything Dinosaur for example. Granted I'm aware there are some out there (like the Dinosaur Park Toy Store, and I believe there is a site in the UK, and a few others dedicated to selling Jurassic, etc merch).

Gothmog the Baryonyx

Wow, I wish we had stores like that here
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

SBell

I just saw a series of blind bag models in a local Walmart (Canada) that appears to be newer, including Bumpy. Does anyone have a listing of the package codes? I would rather avoid a bunch of doubles.

Also saw the slime egg figures...they look decent, but again, they're blind buys and I don't like guessing:

One silhouette does seem to match up with the Carcharodontosaurus and I think I see some of the rumored species there?
The Ouranosaurus and Iguanodon look pretty damn good for toys (though the weird gap of the sail at the tail is a shame, but guess it's for articulation), but what's got me most hyped /if/ this is legit are the two small theropods, look like a smaller tyrannosaurid with feathers and some abelisaurid, probably Majungasaurus looking at the shape and horn, Rajasaurus would be cool too though.

Guess we'll gotta see if this turns out legit, but speculation is kinda fun.

avatar_suspsy @suspsy That image is fan made, not official. It was made by this account that has also posted fake leaks in the past (which means unless it came from a reliable source prior, I would also remain skeptical about an Apatosaurus releasing):

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMBcDMbFQ7O/?igshid=1buz4h2609oqy

Which also posts legit stuff as well on occasion, since the minis they posted about was also just posted by Collect Jurassic.

Collect Jurassic's post:

Edit: Here are the species we definitely have listings of or official images of so far (that I'm aware of):

Zuniceratops (already revealed)
Chialingosaurus
Masiakasaurus
Kentrosaurus
Ouranosaurus
Carcharodontosaurus (already revealed, had a listing on the same site as the Kentrosaurus)

At this point in time with how many fake leaks are out there I'm taking the rest of the rumored species with a grain of salt until more evidence surfaces (product codes, listings, official images).

Glad that photo is a fake. Some of the proportions on those silhouettes look totally off.

I don't know how accurate they are, but there are some interesting items listed (no photos for a lot) in the 2021 list on JP Toys. Possible human-dino 2-packs (Darius & Gallimimus, Yaz & raptor, Ben & Bumpy, Kenji & Monolophosaurus), Lythronax, Apatosaurus, plus some maybe spoilers, so beware. They seem to always have the most current listings and photos, but the Apatosaurus especially may have been inspired by that fake photo.

As cool as it would be, that image looks too fake.

But it reminded me of something.

If we don't get an Apatosaurus for Dominion...we riot.

Faelrin

avatar_ItsTwentyBelow @ItsTwentyBelow Specifically the Ben and Bumpy, Kenji and Monolophosaurus, Darius and Gallimimus and Velociraptor sets were found here (aside from the Chialingosaurus, Masiakasaurus, and Ouranosaurus): https://imusic.dk/page/search?query=jurassic+world&offset=0#tbl

Also come to think of it, Moros might have come from the same Target listing leak a while back that Zuniceratops and some others did (like the baby Nasutoceratops), so that one may be legitimate too? This thread had discussed it: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=8882.0 Still yet to see anything about that one surfacing so far though (or most of them to be honest, possible they were canceled and/or delayed, particularly those of relevance to Dominion).

There are also some other CC set leaks that came from what seems to be a legitimate source (I think BestinSlot did a video on it but it may have been taken by now), but time will tell if those surface too.

avatar_MLMjp @MLMjp Agreed about the Apatosaurus. Would be the perfect time for it to release honestly. Also a shame Corythosaurus hasn't had a figure yet. Been waiting since 2001, lol.

For once I wouldn't mind if they just took the Parasaurolophus body and slapped a Cortyhtosaurus head on it. JP3 did that with the CGI model so...

Seems Apatosaurus has indeed been confirmed. 44 inches long, no less. That fanmade silhouette chart may not be misleading after all.

Wow, that's exciting. Not that I'll be buying one personally, but I'm sure it'll be a fantastic figure.
