Very exciting how much we've been able to learn about Ice Age beasts thanks to all these wonderfully preserved specimens. I just wish someone would uncover an Elasmotherium.

I hope some day they find an Elasmotherium as well (and probably any others like Megaloceros, etc). I can only imagine more of these finds will become more common as time goes on, what with the whole permafrost thawing, or at least hopefully that they are discovered in time. I can only imagine without proper measures taken, these would decay pretty fast once thawed.

I think this is also the third this year? There was the cave bear (if not another bear) found earlier this year, and yet another wolf puppy pretty recently (this month) I think?

In any case, even if this poor rhino is long gone, it really is the closest to seeing what they may have looked like alive. And what a remarkable animal they must have been. All the more reason to do what we can to protect the world's remaining megafauna, if not a reminder to not take their presence and co-existence with us, for granted.

Spectacular! I also rather enjoy the reconstruction. ALF vibes.

Oh great, now I imagine it living in someone's house, chasing their cat.
Jurassic Park is frightning in the dark
All the dinosaurs are running wild
Someone let T. Rex out of his pen
I'm afraid those things'll harm me
'Cause they sure don't act like Barney
And they think that I'm their dinner, not their friend
Oh no
