[Edit: Poll is live! Megaloceros by Papo is at the bottom because I missed it the first time through. Sorry about that, Ice Age fans!]

Time to choose your favorite (deal with it, the spelling without the u is by far the more common) 2020 prehistoric toy releases! Here's a preliminary shortlist, compiled from the various "new for 2020" threads and Carnoking's thread. It's not intended as an exhaustive list of every figure released in 2020, of which there were more than 200. For some companies that are reliable vote-getters, I included their whole lineup. For others I only included figures that were expressly mentioned in Carnoking's thread. Please nominate additional figures if you think you will vote for them or you have reason to think others will. EoFauna's Atlasaurus was suggested, but it was a 2019 release.

Some of these companies obviously don't follow a calendar year style release schedule so I'm including any nominated figure that was offered for sale from in-hand stock (i.e., not a pre-order) on or before 31 December 2020, except if it was explicitly designated as 2021 product. This artificially divides PNSO's recent offerings, but you have to draw a line somewhere. Some things kind of straddle the line between toy and statue, but if it's made of a non-frangible plastic I'm including it (in other words, I'm excluding polystone). If you notice anything included below listed in error, please let me know!

Under PNSO, shouldn't the Microceratops read Microraptor?

Gothmog the Baryonyx

If you're going off what was actually released in 2020, then you should include the 2021 Schleich releases like the Kaprosuchus? Not that I'd vote for any of them.
Megalosaurus, Iguanodon, Archaeopteryx, Cetiosaurus, Compsognathus, Hadrosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Albertosaurus, Herrerasaurus, Stenonychosaurus, Deinonychus, Maiasaura, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Argentinosaurus, Sinosauropteryx, Microraptor, Citipati, Mei, Tianyulong, Kulindadromeus, Zhenyuanlong, Yutyrannus, Borealopelta, Caihong

Faelrin

This is going to be tough to narrow it down to ten when the poll goes live. I think I have this problem every year though.

Over9K

Don't sleep on the X-Plus Ray Harryhausen 10 Years Anniversary Series One Million Years B.C. Allosaurus.

Obviously not accurate to the modern paleontology, it is an accurate representation of Harryhausen's stop-motion puppet, an important milestone along the history of cinema dinosaurs.

Didn't Takara Tomy release stuff last year? I mean, I think they'd be about as popular as the recent as the Kaiyodo stuff, right?

Halichoeres

I believe I've added the additional nominees so far. Ping me if I missed something.

Right you are, thanks! I think it was just auto-fill because Machairoceratops was just above it.

I left those out because Schleich, like Safari, has explicit release years and they just drop them a little early. They're like car companies that way. PNSO doesn't hew to year designations as far as I can tell. There are other "2020" Schleich releases, however, I just didn't think anybody would vote for the Cryo or the Agustinia. (If anybody wants to nominate them but doesn't wish to do so publicly, you are welcome to send me a PM!)

Yes, you're right, thanks. I know a certain someone who would probably vote for their ~arthropods, so I've added them. But they actually released a ton of prehistoric product this year (http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=8385.0). Anybody care to nominate other specific figures? The Fukuisaurus and Fukuiraptor were really not bad.

Good idea adding the Takara Tomy stuff, such as the Anomalocaris and Olenoides at least.

Also huh, I spy a new gorgeous fish as your profile pic avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres.

Edit: I'm thinking of doing one vote/figure per company to make it more fair and also perhaps better represent how broad my interest is as of late once the poll goes live. It will also give some new brands a chance to shine, as there have been quite a few lately that show real promise.

There are some Schleich ones missing but I couldn't imagine anyone picking those two.

Yeah, that was my reasoning. Certainly willing to add them if anybody thinks they'll get votes. Schleich somehow managed to make an Agustinia that's worse than the decade-old CollectA version.

avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin: Good spot! It's my Icarealcyon.

Edited to add: I'm deleting the Rebor Carnotaurus skull on the grounds that it's polystone and doesn't therefore qualify as a toy to my mind.

How long will you leave this poll open by the way? I am wanting to vote for Miragaia when the poll goes live but I'd like to wait to have it in hand before doing so and it could be well over a month before that happens

For such a rough year in basically every other department, dinosaur lines seem to have done quite well.

There are lots of forum users who don't visit regularly but might still want to suggest figures to include, so I'll leave suggestions open for at least another week. I expect the poll would be live for at least a couple of weeks afterward. As you suggest, I think it makes sense to allow people to have late-in-the-year releases in hand, or at least to have a good selection of in-hand photos to peruse.

Agreed. Personally, I was especially impressed with CollectA and PNSO.

Love mine, but it doesn't stand.

Mine doesn't, either, and I've fixed the feet a couple of times with hot water already. It'll stand for a few days and then topple over again. I'm thinking of making a base for it.
Check out my customs thread!

ceratopsian

Mine stands provided that it stands on one of the bases for the BotM raptor environment packs with its feet on the base and its tail on the floor off the base.  It actually looks good like that and seems very stable - it hasn't fallen over at all and its been like that for a long time now.

It's going to be a hard one with all the qualifying PNSO!😃
