Halichoeres

A new fish from the Middle Devonian of Brazil, which was at the time located much closer to the south pole. Meet Austelliscus ferox ("fierce fish of the south"), recovered as the sister taxon to Tegeolepis.

There are no complete specimens, but it was probably 30-40 cm long.

I'm also seeing that it's no longer open access. But I can get pdfs for anyone who asks.
