Having just bought the Colossal today at Target I can say it's still not a worthy match the film, looks kinda close in profile but that's about it. The tail is wide, very crocodile like, same with the head.  Overall though it some of the best proportions (
feet aside) of any Colossal figure.   Has anyone else picked up on the marbling effect with this line?  Seems to be the new thing vs the specks of the FK line.

I wish my Target had looked like that. I mean the figures were there, but no display. I'm betting it's in an employee's car on the way home somewhere.

I'll be waiting on a Hammond Collection release... This initial sculpt Mattel's pushing out is not screen accurate at all.

I noticed the marbled plastic on the Quetz.

I noticed it when I was looking at the product shots of the Extreme Damage Allosaurus, I think it looks decent.  The specks I never liked, though I understood the reasoning behind it.
I'm excited for REBOR's Acro!  Can't ya tell?

Carnoking

I've definitely noticed it but didn't know what to call it!
I think it's a clever workaround for adding more "color" to the figure without necessarily dipping too far into the paint budget. Although I would prefer more thought out patterning, anything to break up the base plastic (especially on those bare tails), I'm game for.

Takara is making neat little min figs, one of them being the new Para design. Will have to find the pictures again.

C @Camzilla94 There's a thread here for those if you (or anyone else) wants more info and pics: http://dinotoyblog.com/forum/index.php?topic=10037.0

Edit: Forgot to mention my Carnotaurus set arrived today. Originally I ordered it for my friend in Germany alongside the Atrociraptor Ghost cage set, after he sent the funds for it. After ordering it he found out it would be coming out there (I'm guessing Smyths will be carrying it?), so he agreed I could keep it and just subtracted what he owed me for, since he knew I was also interested in getting this set. Very glad to have this mostly for the new (Demon) Carnotaurus figure, but also nice for the two Atrociraptor figures. Just need Ghost then and fingers crossed for Tiger later on.

Just spotted this on JPToys! Looks like there is an adult tucked back in there too...

I figured we'd get something like this set eventually. I guess I am just glad I only own the 2018 Mattel Stegosaurus, so perhaps I can justify getting another adult...

EDIT: looks there is more info on Collect Jurassic's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/collectjurassic/

Next I'd like: a film-based Nick Van Owen + baby T. rex (in darker colors) story pack, and if they ever decided to release the Mercedes (destructible, please!), that would be a good chance to get an Eddie Carr that is also based on the actor.

Yeah it's an adult , the original JW one repainted though. Sarah and the baby Stego are the real standout pieces.   I'm hoping for a lot more Legacy figures from TLW, we need the trailers, Mercedes, Nick, Eddie, Kelly, Ludlow, ect... really there is a lot. A hunter set with capture truck and mercs would be a great builder set.

ItsTwentyBelow

Yeah thanks, looks like I had missed the news about this a few days ago, guess it got buried too quick.

I would have been fine with just a story pack with Sarah and the baby, but I like the colors on the adult at least. I think it will go well with the green color scheme of my 2018 Stego, and hey, there are multiple adults in this scene anyway.

Agreed on all those characters getting figures. We can only hope for the best! For the Mercedes, I can picture Mattel reusing the idea for last year's T. Rex Escape Pack at a similar price point. Call it the 'T. Rex Attack Pack', with yet another repaint of the Chompin' T. Rex, Eddie, and the car with a detachable roof section and lights. We could get a pack with Dieter Stark, his gun, plus 5 Compies of varying sculpts, including new sculpts. Price that at $15 with a neat Legacy package and I'm interested!

Why are these prototypes always better?

What we received

Base color looked more film accurate, at least to the renders we've seen vs a straight up green?

Patterns were more complex and extended further.  Toenails were skipped over in both though.

Darko2300

That's a tough one. I don't think they're actually that different; the perspective's flipped on each so the head proportions look different, but it doesn't really line up that well with what we've seen in the film, does it? (At least it's better than the LEGO version.  ;D) I bought 2 to try and repaint anyway, so I'm probably not helping the problem by giving them money, am I? I'm just holding out for Nanmu and Prime 1 at this point.

Wait, are you insinuating that PNSO prototypes are also always better than their production pieces? I was going to purchase my first PNSO sometime this week, but now you have me thinking I should hold off...  :o

Other than the head being too wide for the film version and the teeth being incorrect ( they are individual and made well, not just sculpted in a row like with the Colossal Rex or Blue. It's not bad. The overall piece is also more propionate.

Paint work has always been an issue, more on the tail would be better..and the missing paint on the upper thigh sticks out like sore thumb though.

Maybe they thought a slate grey one would be confused with the colossal Blue which is also grey?

I agree I'm hoping Nanmu gets one out as well WDragon/P1.

Darko2300

I suspect the green color was part of the licensing agreement with Universal as the LEGO figure shares that same trait. (Another well-known example would be the mandated 'blue' color for Michael Myers' jumpsuit despite it actually being more of a charcoal grey in the film.) The level of control that's exerted over some of these things is staggering.  ::)

Then why not paint the film character green?  lol It's like a yellow Hulk..
