I'm kinda excited to see what Mattel announces for this line at New York Toy Fair.

Faelrin

Same. Just a few weeks from now. The 16-19th. I thought it would be a little bit later this month. Glad I'm wrong, because I'm hoping they will have the Brachiosaurus and let us know more about the Amargasaurus. Ditto with the Indominus rex, and whatever others.

At least we know the Dimetrodon and Tapejara should be hitting stores around April (might be the same for the Coelurus and green Herrerasaurus too. Maybe the BD Pteranodon and Plesiosaurus too).

Today I came across a Dino Rivals figure for the first time, it was the Bite`N Fight T.rex, and honesty I was not that impressed. I looked better in pictures.
I also tested it´s action features and they were kinda meh, ant the bite action wasn't the smoothest, but that could be the case of that specific copy.
I might need to take a second personal look to it before saying my final words, but for now, although it is still a nice figure, I find the previous Mattel Tyrannosaurus figures more interesting.

My favorite thing about it was the color, wish they would just use the coloration on a the past releases.

Faelrin

Same here. I really dig the duller brown on it. Much closer to the color scheme in the films.

Also here's a first look at the Coelurus and green Herrerasaurus attack packs:

I can't wait to get that Coelurus. I loved the colors of it in the promo pics and how it looked in the app, and I'm glad the toy itself is still close to that. Probably the "best" toy of this genus, even if it isn't the most accurate.

Well here's an instagram post by Britt Shotts showing the Plesiosaurus (in package).

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt1niERlMUT/

Some bad news for folks in the comments though. While browsing through the comments on the instagram post, where this surfaced from, it seems like the Brachiosaurus is going to be a Target exclusive, and will probably be a no show at NY Toy Fair. Britt goes on to talk about the Spinosaurus distribution problem, and how hopefully this won't occur again for the Brachiosaurus (be on store shelves please).

I'm feeling crushed because that was the big one I wanted to see the most revealed this weekend, but well I'm still looking forward to what else will be there (such as the Indominus rex probably).

The new Suchomimus' bite attack is also terrible, it's like a gentle nudging.  I thought I got a broken copy when I first tested it.

PhilSauria

Looking forward to getting hold of this one, I'm sure that neck can be bent forward into a more accurate position for display.

Damn it! They didn't learn from their mistakes didn't they? ::)
And they are not even going to show it on the toy fair, what a way to break one´s heart (And on Valentine´s day)
Fingers cross that El Corte Ingles would stock the Brachiosaurus in Spain like it did with the previous Legacy items, cause don't wanna spend a s**t ton of money on this.

PD: The Plesiosaurus looks really nice

I have some more news.

So I asked Britt Shotts last night on the instagram post showing the Battle Damage Plesiosaurus about the unreleased Legacy Collection Dilophosaurus and JPIII/quilled Velociraptor. While they have not been able to make it to stores (hmm, wonder what this means, but I guess it's not a one and done cancellation like with the Therizinosaurus or Destruct-A-Saurs Stygimoloch Lab set. The distribution between Mattel and retailers has been such a messy situation, for one reason or another), they could likely be re-purposed and brought to light in some form in the future. I don't know if the rumored Savage Strike Dilophosaurus and Velociraptor will be them then (I guess we will need to wait and see if these figures show up at NY Toy Fair. I did not think to ask her about this, but doubtful I would have been given information about that) but she also made a good point in a response to someone else regarding this matter on not relying on retailers early listings as definitive releases. I have learned this after some items being listed but never seeing the day of light (in my country or at all, such as the Matchbox Dino Transporters Mosasaurus sub set), I have learned to not rely upon those as being released. Ditto for things in the app. At least we have a list to go off of for the winter-spring Dino Rivals items (not counting exclusives).

Edit: Not a moment after I post this, we get our first sneak peek look at the Brachiosaurus:

While I'm still salty about this being a store exclusive, I'm glad we get to see it all this soon. It looks like it has a film accurate color scheme, and I'm hoping that seam on the neck is articulation there too. Hope we will be able to see it in full soon (or perhaps the head) since it will be a no show at the NY Toy Fair this weekend. But I'm glad we got our first look at the actual toy now in any case. It´s...It´s a blurry dinosaur! ;D

Apart from the color scheme there is not much to talk about. The seam in the neck has to be for articulation, otherwise it would not have that form and it would have a better transition between parts, like in the Mosasaurus tail or the super colossal T.rex. It would be very limited though.

Also is it me or the body looks smaller that its chest? I hope it is due to the angle and the blurriness of the image.

I want to see the head. :P

Faelrin

You know what, yeah it likely is articulation. I wonder how this is going to be packaged though. Like I wonder if the neck and legs (and tail) will need assembled first. There's no way it's not going to be fully assembled for sale, because of how big it is, plus with the packaging for it, like with the Super Colossal Tyrannosaurus.

Here's the previous silhouette shown at SDCC last year to compare it with, it is of any help:

PhilSauria

While I'm excited about this one for collectors in the US and some of the select countries that the Mattel line filters out to, as far as us Australian buyers are concerned I can see it being yet another in a long list of releases that we will not be able to get our hands on (without paying inflated prices online and mega-bucks shipping fees!).

Minmiminime

Similar situation here in the UK ::) I don't collect these, but there's been the odd one I really fancied like the Albertosaurus and they're very elusive..! What happened to the good old days where you could pretty much get anything anywhere without going through some scurrilous scalper?! That Brachiosaurus is going to be awesome. I wonder if it'll be exactly like the original or if it'll have a bit of blue face paint like the ones in JW:FK?
"You can have all the dinosaurs you want my love, providing we have enough space"

Faelrin

Alright so Britt just posted an update about this whole Brachiosaurus situation on her instagram. It will be a part of the main line for folks outside the US. So there's chances it could come to countries that got screwed on the Legacy Collection (for whatever reason), but it still depends on retailers so if your country didn't get the Mosasaurus or Super Colossal Tyrannosaurus, I'd be shocked if they got this one. She really wants others to be able to get this, but ultimately it will come down to retailers at the end of the day.

PhilSauria

Thanks for the update - we had the Colossal rex here but not the Mosasaur so I guess that leaves us with a 50-50 chance on the Brachiosaurus then.

We had the exact same situation in Spain, we got most of the Legacy stuff though, including the Spinosaurus.
Anyway, double the chance for the Brachiosaurus to appear.

I would imagine that just for presentation, the tail will be the only piece to be assembled. I think they would want the neck to be visible in its natural position if the toy is exposed like most of their figures.

However, they may keep it all boxed up like the Indominus skeleton/Mosasaurus set.

Blade-of-the-Moon

I'm thinking it will be just like the Mosasaur.  Box will show the head and neck, you have to attach the legs and tail.

terrorchicken

anyone else as conflicted about the albertasaurus as I am?

-its a nice sculpt and nice paint job
-nice articulation

but...

-it has these weird horns and snout's too short(is alberta even supposed to have eye horns?)makes it look more  like an allosaur
-its tail sucks

Ive seen quite a few of them at stores already, its like begging me to buy it  :o

and yet Im having a hard time finding the blue styracosaarus which I know I really want...
