Hello everyone! I am a twenty one year old Canadian nerd using she/her or they/them pronouns that is pursuing a degree in anthropology with double minors in linguistics and archaeology. Like many, I've loved dinosaurs since I was very little, and movies such as Disney's Dinosaur and Jurassic Park were staples of my childhood. While my academic career rests within the anthropological sphere, I also like to poke my nose into paleontological journals.

As of right now, I've just finished painting a Build-a-Raptor from David Silva's Beasts of the Mesozoic line (Of course, I painted Blue of Jurassic World) and have a bunch of more raptors on the way. I run the Beasts of the Mesozoic Community Hub forum, discord, and Facebook group as well.

I am also interested in learning how to make professional dioramas and repainting dinosaur models.

(also if anyone knows of a good quadrapedal or aquatic spinosaurus model plz pass along a link i have a mighty need)

paintingdinos

Welcome!

I like your paint up :) I've been procrastinating on doing mine, but I've really enjoyed everyone else's.

CollectA makes both a quadrapedal and a swimming version of Spinosaurus, if you're looking to repaint. I picked up a couple myself for this purpose- but you may want to nab them quickly if you like them, apparently the swimming one was retired this year.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you have good times here. I like your Blue!

@paintingdinos Oh my gosh, thank you for the heads up! Both versions are exactly what I'm looking for - I'll have to look into getting my grubby paws on them. I'm a huge fan of the quadrupedal + aquatic hypotheses and certainly would love to paint some pretty spinies for my (tiny) collection

@Jose_S.M. Thank you for the welcome and compliment!

IrritatorRaji

Welcome aboard!

And wow, that's an incredible repaint! I've surprisingly not seen too many BotM Build A Raptor repaint, so his is nice to see!

As for the Quad Spino, CollectA sells 2, a normal walking one and a deluxe walking one. They sold a swimming variant but I believe it's been retired. It's not hard to come by though.

Or, if you want something smaller, there's the Takara Tomy one

And I kinda suppose the Safari one?

Wouldn't want to forget Favorite's Spinosaurus

@IrritatorRaji Thank you for the compliment! I'm hoping that as more orders ship, more people will begin posting their Build-a-Raptors. Part of the reason for my setting up a Community Hub for the Beasts of the Mesozoic was so that people could share their raptors.

Also: you guys are terrible influences I hope you know

@painterRex I would kill to get my paws on that one, but the only place I could find it was a Japanese store, and the shipping alone was twice the cost of the figure itself :'D

Not Canadian, but fellow North American here to welcome you to the forum!

It's slightly an addiction for me now to just browse for hours. Congrats on all the BotM publicity success!

In the kingdom of the blind, better take public transit. Well, in the kingdom of the sighted, too, really--almost everyone is a terrible driver.

@counterklock

Btw, have you sent an image of your raptor to the Creative Beasts Facebook? They just recently did a showcase of painted build-a-raptors and, if they do another, yours could be featured :D

Counterklock

@IrritatorRaji I have not! I'm waiting until I can get proper pictures on my not-the-phone-camera before I send them to the main Creative Beast FB page
