So while my other thread here kind of goes over everything regarding what is film canon, etc, but there were still a lot of figures not covered as a result of not fitting within the categories I established (such as repaints, etc). I thought it would be helpful to start a checklist sorted by A-Z. Each figure will be sorted by year of release. All film animals will have their names highlighted in blue text.

Most images for each of the figures are also from JPToys. Excellent resource and reference to putting this together.

Below are stats which include total numbers of genera, total film and non film genera, total genera by year (new and returning), total genera by period, etc.

For the lists with images, go here for:
Saurischian dinosaurs (includes sauropods, theropods, and fictional hybrids)
Ornithischian dinosaurs (incudes stegosaurs, ankylosaurs, ceratopsians, ornithopods, etc)
Non Dinosaurs (pterosaurs, psuedosuchians, marine reptiles, and synapsids/non reptiles)

Total genera:
142

Excellent and very useful reference list, good work!

I can't thank Mattel enough for the impressive output of non canon dinosaurs and other assorted critters they released, there's some wonderfully obscure species there.

Gwangi

Impressive work! Thanks for putting this together, I just scrolled through the entire thing. Amazing what Mattel has been able to accomplish.

Very impressive avatar_Faelrin @Faelrin! This will definitely come in handy. I have been waiting to do the diversity analysis until we see what PNSO does the rest of the year.

Glad to see this resource has been helpful for folks. It really is amazing to see everything they've done over the years. Now that I have this done I got to get my film canon thread updated again. Long overdue for one with the news regarding Dominion and after CCS4 has aired.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Good to see you are doing that again. It does make sense to wait it until the new year, as you never know with PNSO.

avatar_GojiraGuy1954 @GojiraGuy1954 A real shame isn't it? At least they might be adding another to the list with the:

On a similar note they could do with more pterosaur variety in the line as well, beyond the dozens of Dimorphodon and Pteranodon.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Good to see you are doing that again. It does make sense to wait it until the new year, as you never know with PNSO.

avatar_GojiraGuy1954 @GojiraGuy1954 A real shame isn't it? At least they might be adding another to the list with the:
Spoiler
Liopleurodon that has a listing.
[close]
On a similar note they could do with more pterosaur variety in the line as well, beyond the dozens of Dimorphodon and Pteranodon.
I wouldnt consider Liopleurodon a spoiler since it isnt a Dominion animal from what we know
Shrek 4 is an underrated masterpiece

Faelrin

I only did so because it hasn't been officially revealed just yet. I'm treating it like a leak. Not sure where the source of listing for it was found.

Updated the list with the newest batch of reveals. Should I also add in the Hammond Collection figures since they are in the mainline scale, but not necessarily mainline figures (more articulation, and paint apps)?

Just about finished a massive update that's been long overdue now. Just need to update the totals in the top represented families section.

Edit: Finished now. Interesting to note that Abelisauridae jumped up into one of the top contenders this year, with 4 new genera, and one returning. Spinosauridae also got two new additions this year, pushing it up to 6 as well. Here's the totals of the top 5 most represented families or groups:

Ceratopsia: 11 total
Tyrannosauroidea: 7 total
Abelisauridae: 6 total
Spinosauridae: 6 total
Stegosauridae: 4 total

Edit: The new Einiosaurus brings the total of ceratopsians to 11 now. I also added in the new Dimetrodon & Grant set, Pyroraptor & Kayla set, and the 4 new Wave 3 Ferocious Pack figures.

That character limit is occasionally inconvenient, isn't it?

This list is quite an undertaking, thanks again for...undertaking it. I don't have an opinion on restructuring, but I bet there'd be about as many theropods as everything else combined.

Thanks. And now with some more new reveals, I need to update it again, lol.

And honestly it is pretty close. 43 theropods (with today's new Genyodectes or whatever), and 48 of everything else so far (26 ornithischians, 6 sauropods, 6 pterosaurs, 8 other reptiles, 2 synapsids). For more info check the top represented families section. I list out everything there.

Edit: OP has been updated now, as well as the posts with all the images.

Okay so I've added the new 2023 figures (that have images on JPToys so far), and a few others I've been behind on adding or updating. Hope I didn't miss anything (wouldn't surprise me if I did with the sheer amount of stuff to keep track of now).

I also changed how the genera by period have been sorted, so from Early to Late genera first, and then A-Z afterwards. This will make it easier to keep track of the totals going forward. Perhaps may make it interesting to see the data grouped together like this as well.

Assuming I didn't miscount anything either, we're already up to 107 genera (and counting) in the line. Way to go Mattel. Granted I would always prefer quality over quantity (especially seeing how the mainline is going as of late, HC not included, although same scale), but it's interesting how many obscure genera they've put out of the years, being the first to make figures of them. Many of those are also fragmentary, but some on the other hand are not, but still have been sorely neglected over the years.

I think the next step for me is to organize the A-Z image lists into Theropoda, Ornithischia, etc. Make it a little easier to find particular figures without having to scroll to the particular name(s).

Thanks for maintaining this. Gotta say, with how the Elaphrosaurus turned out, it sometimes seems like their new genera are worse than if they'd done nothing at all.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres I definitely feel for your collection, with how many first timers (I think, with Austroraptor, Elaphrosaurus, Eocarcharia, Sinotyrannus, and Xuanhanosaurus), are coming next year, and how odd many of them are, that one included. Totally agree with you. And with some of these being obscure and fragmentary, and while I know children are the primary audience, I still wonder if they'll even be as interested (unless they just like how the figure looks, which is valid)?

Also while working on this, I've experienced burn out (I think) in a way I haven't before. Could be my depression getting to me as per usual (lack of interest, finding little point in things), but looking back at many of the ones I got in prior years, it's like I lost all the interest I used to have for them. Sure some I got for species completion purposes, and didn't really care for from the start like the Metriacanthosaurus, but others I used to like at the time, but it's like now I don't even want them.

It's strange too, like most of my collection is in storage, and it's like I don't even miss it, or perhaps most of it (I do miss my BotM stuff especially, many of which I didn't even get to properly enjoy in hand). Some things on the other hand I kept with me (things that wouldn't take up a lot of space), because I didn't want those going into storage. Things like my Favorite and Safari Ltd Cambrian stuff, my WWD Allosaurus, and a few Mattel figures I like, such as the Scutosaurus, Postosuchus, AC Dilophosaurus, etc. You ever experience this before?

Maybe I just need a fresh start (less is more) or to refocus things instead?

Edit: Well today is a bit different. Well in the sense that I've acquired some inspiration on how to rearrange my displays if/when I can be reunited with them, hopefully. Who knows how long I'll be waiting in that regard though.

Yes, I have definitely had that experience. Simpsons action figures were kinda like that for me. I hope you can find some way to find joy in the hobby again, at whatever the right size is for you.

avatar_Halichoeres @Halichoeres Thanks for sharing that. Maybe a purge in the future might be inevitable, but I suppose it will be a while before I even get the chance to do such. At least it gives me time to reflect on things. Another alternative is to perhaps just keep a simpler display and rotate things out when I'm in the mood for them, but I still might need to let some things go to a new home.
